22.01.2022 A great trail for the well prepared in BC, Canada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xdXUI_XwVM

21.01.2022 Thru' the Pantanal. When we tried - after a BIG wet season - there were bridges washed away and water everywhere. At one stage we drove thru water about 2-3 foot deep for 10km or so - then it got really deep.

21.01.2022 Travels thru South America, albeit quickly. What a magical continent to savour!

18.01.2022 Yellowstone is one of the greatest national parks in the world ... and the 'Bear's bathtub' is pretty darn special.

17.01.2022 Tales from the Long Open Road Mongolian Magic. It’s a feeling I love; one of unfettered freedom, vast vistas and unlimited horizons. The two wheel marks that were the track we were following stretched away, seemingly, to eternity. On most maps you can get, the track is actually more grandiosely known as the ‘A0201’, the major highway south from the capital. But this is Mongolia and what is actually on the ground bears very little resemblance to what is drawn on a map. It was... a lesson we had learnt very quickly once we had crossed the border from Russia and now as we headed deeper into the Gobi Desert we reveled in the freedom of the wide open spaces and imagined, for just a moment, that we were as free as the nomads we saw herding their cattle and goats around us. Needless to say we had quickly fallen in love with this country and its stoic, hospitable people. 17.01.2022 'The Duke', the biggest tusker we have met on our travels in Africa. At the time he was the biggest tusker in Kruger NP and had us slowly backing up for 1km or so as he wandered along the road. Lucky he was kindly disposed towards humans and cars - not all of the tuskers are so like minded, but luckily they shun contact with humans By all accounts he later snapped off his tusks in the fork of a tree. When he died of old age (probably around 55 years old) in 2011 his tusks wer...e weighed in at 142kg for the pair. Not the heaviest set of ivory from Kruger, but close. You can discover more about the great tuskers of Kruger at the museum dedicated to the majestic animals at Letaba Camp - probably our favourite camp in all of Kruger. If there is a small group of you get one of the lodges located above the river near the great bend of the Letaba River.
