24.01.2022 An excerpt from Zoey Schmitts professional bio reads: . . . studying at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School from years 7 - 10, which further exposed her to all sorts of dance styles. Finally completing a further three years at the Australian Ballet School to narrow and intensify her ballet and dance related studies. On completion of her training at the Australian Ballet School, Zoey was accepted in to the Australian Ballet Company as a Corps de Ballet dancer. During her 4 year tenure with the Company, Zoey had many wonderful opportunities and experienced some wonderful repertoire.

21.01.2022 Our Choreography teacher Kirstie McCracken has an impressive story: Read on: Kirstie trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, she has toured nationally and internationally performing works with Chunky Move (Flesh Meet, Body Parts, Live Acts, Singularity), Lucy Guerin Inc (The Ends of Things, Melt, Plasticine Park, On, Aether, Love Me, Structure and Sadness, Corridor, Weather), Force Majeure (Same, same but different, Already Elsewhere, The Sense of It, The Age I’m In, Ne...ver did me any Harm), Byron Perry (Punctuated Equilibrium, Gogglebox, Double Think), Tasdance (Hypermobile), Fiona Cameron (Looking for Life Cure) and Nicole Steven (Frame Chaser). She also collaborated with Lisa Griffiths choreographing and performing in two short works for the ‘Studio’ at the Sydney Opera House and has performed in various commercial projects including a Music Video for New Buffalo (It’s True). Kirstie is a multiple award nominee for the Greenroom, Helpmann and Australian Dance Awards. Kirstie retired from performing in 2014 and has been developing her teaching practice from her home base in the town of Daylesford in country Victoria. Pop-up School Holiday Dancing We are delighted to give our students an opportunity to dance in a pop-up holiday class on Thursday 1st October and give our teachers an opportunity to see their beloved students in a three- dimensional capacity. This is a small taster for our upcoming weekly classes beginning in term 4. More about that soon.... Classes will be conducted at the Castlemaine Sunken Oval near the Castlemaine Swimming Pool Lake Augusta Lane. Please note this is not the botanical gardens as previously announced but studio botanica nonetheless. The cost is $15 per class and bookings will open tomorrow Thursday 24th September at 8am (links below) For the time being, there is a 10 - student cap on each class in line with government regulations. The 4-holiday pop up classes are described below with associated booking link. Students will require a yoga mat, water bottle, sunscreen and a hat. We will send more information on booking. 18.01.2022 Thanks to intense lobbying by Dance Arts Alliance MEMBERS dance and performing arts groups will be included in the soon-to-be-launched sports vouchers initiativ...e that the Victorian Government recently announced. It means that kids who study dance will be eligible to receive help with paying for uniforms and tuition. We'll provide more information as it comes to hand. See more

16.01.2022 Studio Botanica ... We are delighted to be embracing the great outdoors in Term 4. Studio Botanica will be held from Monday 12th October at the Sunken Oval adjoining our magnificent Botanical Gardens. Bookings open tomorrow :) Our focus will be on: * Togetherness! Re-connecting with teachers and fellow students after a disrupted year. * Supporting our emotional and physical wellbeing through yoga and dance. ... * Exploring the unique opportunities outdoor spaces provide for yoga and dance-inspired movement. * The trusty chauffeurs of our enrolled students will have the opportunity for a stroll in the gardens, a coffee (maybe both!) while their dancers dance. Studio Botanica stands alone as a separate offering for Term 4. Of necessity, it is not a reflection of the happenings in the Templeton St studio. Our outdoor studio will: * Occur on Mondays & Saturdays to a simplified timetable (see attached) * Involve 50 minute classes * Require suitable attire for the outdoor experience * Be priced at $15 per class.

12.01.2022 We have 10 dance educators at Over the Moon Studios. Each one of these stellar humans has dedicated a large chunk of their lives to the art of dance. They teach a diverse range of genres and each one of them brings a unique insight to our school. Students who have the opportunity to learn from a range of these teachers are indeed fortunate. The benefit of gathering such a diverse collection of educators in the one establishment lies in the sharing of insights that build upon the 31 year culture of our little school. Here is a sneak peak of her putting the Senior Contemporary Class put their paces. SeungHi is a Bendigo based dancer, dance educator, cultural dance educationalist and choreographer, originally from South Korea. After completing her Post-Graduate & Master of Choreography at the Victorian College of... the Arts (VCA), SeungHi performed, toured and choreographed several works in Melbourne, Bendigo and regional Victoria. She has also been an artistic director of KITA Performing Arts Company and worked at community and corporate events. 07.01.2022 Three styles of adult dance classes: Contemporary Dance & Ballet for Adults with our resident dancer and yogi, Lauren Jeffreys (Tuesdays, 10.30 am). Open to all levels, this class will incorporate the movements and technique of both ballet and contemporary dance in a fun and safe way. Lauren’s bio is available to read here. Traditional Korean Dance with Seung Hi Lee (Saturdays 6 Feb onwards, 11.15 am). Our highly respected Seung Hi is offering an insight into Korean cultura...l dance through a 4 week series of Saturday morning workshops. This is a unique opportunity to experience a style that focuses on traditional arm/hand and foot movements, combined with breathing techniques. Again, no dance experience is required. Seung Hi’s bio can be viewed here. Structured Dance Improvisation for Adults with Roz Avent (Sundays 7 Feb onwards, 11 am). A 6 week series. Structured Dance Improvisation underpins the dance teaching at OTM...but Roz questions why should children and young people have all the fun? Her six week block of 1 hour classes will encourage participants to connect their body and imagination through the pleasure of movement. The emphasis will be on play and free experimentation within the framework of each class. No dance experience is required. You can read about Roz’s long association with dance teaching here.
