14.01.2022 Project 79 Well here is the finished result!! After 300+ hours of work, all we can say is WOW!! Here is a walk through (as brief as possible) of what we did. Th...e new 79 series came to us with only the ARB bullbar fitted, along with the empty MFI canopy, as a clean canvas for us to work some magic!! So starting from the EXTERIOR, it received LED headlight and foglight conversions, 32 BIGRED lightbar and Bigred spotties, colour coded to the Vehicle. 300w solar panel, roof basket, SAFARI snorkel, ARB side steps and rails & ClearView mirrors. 12,000lb winch, which we de-constructed the control box and modified to make the plug mount flush in the bullbar, for a sleeker look, and powered through a kill switch next to the battery. UNDER the Vehicle received an air tank, running air lines to both ends of the ute. Also ARB diff breathers, toolbox lighting, and a custom bracket made to house the air connection, trailer & anderson plugs, solar input, reverse light and reverse camera. INSIDE, you can quickly see at the heart is ALPINE's beautiful 8 inch media station, replacing the clunky factory headunit, complete with Apple Carplay/Android Auto, street Sat Nav & 4WD maps. With the small and discreet control knob of the REDARC Towpro brake controller mounted just below. Complementing that are pods on the doors, housing the punchy and crisp AUDISON Prima speakers, powered by a HERTZ 4ch amplifier. The entire interior was removed, and sound deadening and acoustic foam were applied on the roof, doors, floor, back wall, and pretty much anywhere we could fit it, making a big dent against road & wind noise, as well as improving sound quality & passenger comfort. From here we installed the roof & centre consoles, complete with lighting, UHF radio, OBD scan gauge, volt gauge, USB charging points, USB & HDMI inputs for the headunit, and switching for accessories. THINKWARE front and rear dashcam, and replacement rearview mirror, which a second rear driving camera and camera in the dog box can be viewed on. In the small space behind the rear seat, a custom bracket was created thanks to Allform Industries, and on this was mounted a huge 150ah AGM battery, powered through a REDARC 40amp 4 stage charger with solar input and a Projector voltage cut off so the battery will not flatten. The vehicles interior/exterior lighting, acc & usb sockets, headunit & amplifer run off this battery to take the load off the main battery and without fear of flattening. Next to these is the ARB twin air compressor filling the air system, and a custom fuse box and relay setup powering the mountain of accessories. INTO the MFI Service Bodies camper pod, we started with custom aluminium drawers and shelving, again from Allform Industries, which we made panels with anchor points & wrapped in marine grade carpet to allow for easy clean out and durability. In a hidden compartment lies the power source which is another 150ah AGM battery with primary fuses, leading to another fuse box, mounted on custom aluminium panels, along with USB & accessory points, light switches and 240v power outlets. We made more custom panels for the back wall, to house the REDARC 240v inverter and the Battery Management charging system, with vehicle/240v/solar charging inputs. This system also gives you a controller to view many details about the battery condition and charging/draining status, past, present & future. Finished off with blue mood lighting and white work lights, inside and at the rear, that turn on & off with opening the doors. The upstairs camper also received lighting and charging/acc points. The camper was designed to be removed from the 79 in minutes with ALL wiring running through a single and neat plug, and be self sufficient for periods of time in the bush, maintaining the fridge while monitoring and charging itself through the solar and REDARC system. With this mountain of accessories and battery systems, you will notice the main battery under the bonnet, we have only added but two neat and factory looking cables, complete with fuses, to run the whole system. So why take your vehicle to multiple places to be fitted out, only to pay for doubled-up work, varying levels of workmanship and quality, and lack of ownership if things stop working....when you can take it to ONE place, for all wiring and fitment, and be guaranteed quality workmanship, customer service, and lifetime warranty on service.
