21.01.2022 Worth travelling for: Maccassan Beach. Pitch your tent with uninterrupted views and the chances are you'll have the entire place to yourself. It's the ultimate road less travelled.
21.01.2022 Campsite with a view we didn’t stay at number 22. Pamamaroo Lake; most of the Menindee Lakes are still dry, except this one, which is full to the brim. Great beachside camping (would be the perfect sunset spot) but it was blowing a gale so we opted to camp riverside in neighbouring Kinchega National Park. So many great places to pitch a tent on the river road. #DarlingRiverRun #UltimateRoadTripsAustralia

16.01.2022 Camped by a billabong. Not sure if they’re coolabah trees and no jumbucks in sight, but now I can’t get the song out of my head. On the Paroo. #camplife #outbackNSW #ultimateroadtripsaustralia

14.01.2022 Exploring a few of the gorges in Mutawintji National Park. Looks and feels just like central Australia, but it’s in western NSW, a bonus for us east coasters hemmed in by Covid-closed borders. #outbackNSW #ultimateroadtripsaustralia

10.01.2022 As far as road trips go they don't get much bigger and better than the Savannah Way, Cairns to Broome across the top of Australia. Thrilled to find an edited extract from my latest book, Ultimate Road Trips Australia, in the travel pages of the Weekend Australian this morning (yes I know, I'm a day late opening the paper!). If you missed it subscribers can read the story at https://www.theaustralian.com.au//9309c72384ba823a2f242a28

08.01.2022 Stretching my wings at last! Waking up away from home for the first time in a long time on my first road trip out of lockdown. Snapped this morning in beautiful Mallacoota in East Gippsland. Feels so good to be back on the road, even if it’s only for a couple of days! #ultimateroadtripsaustralia
06.01.2022 Saving the best till last and finishing off our western rivers NSW road trip with a night camped beside the river in the town where I grew up. On the banks of the mighty Bogan in Nyngan, in the heart of the Bogan Shire. It’s also home to the Big Bogan, one of the best big things in the state (although I might be biased) #selfiealert #outbackNSW #ultimateroadtripsaustralia
05.01.2022 With the closure of the NSW/Victoria border i’m thankful I was able to squeeze in an interstate road trip when I did. Playing peekaboo with one of the resident budgies at our campsite in Mutawintji National Park last week. This park is a birdwatchers paradise. #outbackNSW #ultimateroadtripsaustralia
04.01.2022 If the thought of waking up to a million-dollar view and paying nothing for it sounds like your perfect holiday, this camping spot is for you.
04.01.2022 Another day, another beautiful campsite on the Darling. This one’s at Tilpa weir. #DarlingRiverRun #ultimateroadtripsaustralia
03.01.2022 For those that enjoy being on two wheels just as much as four. Australia's favourite motorcycling magazine has been reborn, with my partner, Bill McKinnon, (who was editor of the magazine from 1985 to 1988) bringing it back to life as a digital archive of the best writing from Australia's best motorcycle writers.
