24.01.2022 This year saw our Young Artists have the opportunity to study and perform up to three roles under the direction of Peter Coleman-Wright AO and musical guidance of Bradley Gilchrist. Learning these roles included the breakdown of recitative (and how to understand/perform it), vocal technique, character analysis and development, stagecraft and working with fellow musicians. In 2021 Pacific Opera hopes to develop this role study even further with the integration of spoken lang...uage study (French, German and Italian) as well as sung lyric diction. We strive to work with internationally acclaimed conductors and directors to ensure our Young Artists are working with professionals currently engaged in the industry, who can offer contemporary advice and international insights. 21.01.2022 Over a year ago, Maestro Anthony Negus, famous English Wagnerian conductor (https://lfo.org.uk/our-story/anthony-negus), and his wife, Carmen Jakobi (https://www.carmenjakobi.com/), a well-known German theatre and opera director expressed interest in working with Pacific Opera young artists. Both Carmen and Anthony undertook a popular masterclass with Young Artists and Alumni of Pacific Opera in 2020. The event was a wonderful success and very well recevied by an enthusiast...ic and enthralled audience. Thank you to @leonageeves Leona Geeves for your months of effort in making this happen. Thank you to Bradley Gilchrist for his time, talent and amazing ability to work effortlessly with the community and stars!

17.01.2022 I am very lucky to have spent my birthday singing with these lovely people! We performed an American opera gala twice this weekend with the Willoughby Symphon...y Orchestra. This was my final performance with Pacific Opera as part of last years young artist program (mwahaha Im not really a young artist anymore! ), which has been a lovely time. Onwards! Now back to beautiful Napier, New Zealand for a week to see Jose and the Festival Opera family in their Cav + Pag season.

13.01.2022 Last night was a fabulous masterclass and we are thrilled that Maestro Anthony Negus worked with our wonderful Pacific Opera artists - Laura Scandizzo, Lyla Levy-Jordan, Tessa Hayward, Timothy Nunn, and Hamish James! They were brilliantly accompanied by Bradley Gilchrist. Tomorrow evening, Thursday 27th February, Maestro will be accompanying some of these singers and some more at a memorial concert to his friend, Justice Jane Mathews AO. It will be at St Columba, cnr Ocean Street and Forth Street, Woollahra at 7.30pm.
