Wetter-than-normal conditions a...re likely across much of the country, increasing the chance of widespread flooding in eastern Australia. La Niña also means we're expecting average to above-average numbers of tropical cyclones and tropical lows. While the risk of bushfires isn't as high as last summer, fires will occur. There's a greater chance of grass fires in some areas as recent rain and warm weather have led to vigorous vegetation growth. Summer days are likely to be warmer than average for parts of southeast Australia, coastal Queensland, and far western parts of WA. The report has found that winter crop prospects in Australia are generally average to above average at the beginning of spring.
