25.01.2022 Perfect weather for the Clint Robinson Clinic today. Clint introduced the paddlers to several drills both on an off the water. A very worthwhile afternoon for all paddlers. Thanks Clint for sharing your expertise.

Recently, the "Paddles" shop and I conducted the September Technique Clinic here on the Coast in fantastic weather with a keen g...roup of paddlers looking to develop their ability and performance on the various craft they enjoy. The technical steps we work through challenged the group to use and understand how the equipment will give them the best benefits while they're on the water, and it was good to see so many of the group pick up the majority of the skills during our 2-hours together. Our next Clinic will be on Saturday 3rd October - meeting at the "Paddles" Shop by 11.45am so we can start the session on the water at Noon. 15.01.2022 For those of you "Social Distancing", here is a technique pointer to think about the next time you are able to get on the water. In Video 2 of the Epic Techniqu...e Series, a paddler ask what does Clint mean by Weight distribution means you weight the side of the seat next to the working blade in the water more than the other side at the point of entry and stays connected till the exit? This means that as your paddle is coming down for the catch, your weight is shifted onto the side of the upcoming stroke. The water always supports your kayak from the center of the hull. If you shift your weight towards one side away from the center, then the boat will capsize. But before this happens, your paddle catches the water, and starts supporting your weight. Throughout the stroke, you are driving with your leg on the working side (and weighting this side of the seat), and the paddle is supporting much of your weight. Minimal weight is on the "non working" side of the seat. You can see this when watching a beginner paddler in an unstable boat. They tend to keep their body perfectly erect above the centerline of the kayak, afraid to shift their weight towards either side. A good technical paddler will shift their weight towards the stroke and onto the paddle, having confidence that the water will support their paddle blade and prevent them from capsizing. In this way, the experienced paddler achieves a much more dynamic and powerful stroke. https://vimeo.com/161988842
