23.01.2022 Today is Día de los Muertos (The day of the Dead) Celebrated in Mexico and some parts of Latin America, families welcome the souls of their deceased family members and ancestors. It is thought that the dead awaken from their eternal sleep to celebrate with their loved ones. Families clean and decorate the gravesites on Día de los Muertos and create alters honouring their loved ones. Calaveras (skulls) are a symbol of this holiday. Colourful skulls made and molded from sugar ...are placed on alters and at cemeteries. Día de los Muertos is a colourful and beautiful way to celebrate the lives led by those who are now gone.

22.01.2022 Happy Halloween everyone! Halloween 2020 is very different for Paint My Party. It's normally the busiest day of the year, especially when it falls on a Saturday! I'm really missing all those gorgeous and gruesome little faces today. However, on the flip-side I've been able to spend the day with my own two children, as you can imagine that's a luxury I don't generally get at Halloween. The scary movie they've asked to watch tonight is "The Meg" which is basically Jaws on s...teroids Anyway, here's a round up of some favourite Halloween looks over the years. 19.01.2022 A quick rocket, blasting into the starry sky! Rockets have been popular lately, I recently painted about 30 of these at a busy event!

19.01.2022 Throwback to a time when I felt powerful, fierce and indestructable. It's been a month today, since my last gig. I'm sorry for my lack of posts and my silence. My little business is my passion, I've spent so much time and effort building it up and I have been simply lost for words during this Covid-19 crisis. I retreated into my little bubble and only now do I feel strong enough to post. The week before my last gig I spent hours researching ways to protect my clients, myself... and my kit. My hygiene practices have always been excellent but I looked to fine tune them even more. I downsized my kit and used plastic laminated sheets to cover all my paints. I printed signs and thought up new design choices to eliminate painting around childrens eyes, noses and mouths. Within the span of 48 hours I had almost 100% of my booked events and parties cancel. It was blow after blow after blow for my business and my state of mind. Enquiries for future bookings came to a grinding halt. To top it off, one of my biggest corporate clients cancelled all future events for the entire year. I have been feeling despondant and unsure of what the future holds. I know many of us feel this way and I am so grateful that I have a loving family and incredible supportive friends. I'm grateful that I live in a country with a fantastic health care system, I have a roof over my head and food on the table. I am grateful for a wonderful husband that has stepped up to take on extra hours at work to provide for our family. I am grateful that one of my last social outings was a mid-day movie date with one of my closest friends while our kids were at school. We laughed and we cried while we enjoyed each others company sitting side by side. I am in fact, one of the lucky ones. I am strong and I will get through this, as will you. When this is all over, please consider using my small business to add some fun and colour to your next party, social occasion or event. I'm sure there will be plenty of celebrating to do and I cannot wait to be back doing what I love doing most. Take care of yourselves and one another, and remember, it's ok to not be ok. Seek help and support if you need it. Claire x

Tomorrow you can find the Paint My Party team at Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre, Somerville Central, and Diwali celebrations at Club Alamanda (estate residents only). We've also got 5 birthday parties and a private appointment for a sugar skull. And remember... If you need to book in face painting for a date before Christmas, get in touch ASAP. Dates are filling up so quickly! Only 8 weeks until Christmas!

13.01.2022 I'm super excited to announce I'm the winner of the Inspiration to Paint Challenge (ITP) for June! The ITP is open to face painters worldwide and is a daily practice challenge with themes. I had a lot of fun painting in June and I'm thrilled to be chosen as the winner, especially as there are hundreds of incredible artists participating! I'll post an album later today with some of my daily entries.

13.01.2022 I've had a flurry of bookings coming in for events and parties this side of Christmas. Thank you to those that have booked already! If you're thinking of booking a face painter for your event, please get in touch asap as dates are filling up really quickly. I do have a team of face painters that help during busy times, but at this time of year it's imperative to book early!!

07.01.2022 I thought it must be time to check in and let you all know I'm still here! Although restrictions are lifting and things are getting back to a new normal, I won't be taking on any party or event bookings quite yet. You may not know, but last winter I had really really bad pneumonia and was bedridden for almost 2 months. I believe I may have some lasting lung damage. Therefore, I need to be very careful and my health and well-being are top priority. I dearly miss face pai...nting - the fun, the colour, the sweet little smiles and cute wee faces. Having lovely little conversations with children while I paint them. Oh how I miss it! I can't wait to get back to painting all those gorgeous faces, but for now I'll patiently wait and hold off just a bit longer.
