25.01.2022 The Craniisacral Rhythm in action..

24.01.2022 Yep.. People heal in many different ways... Inquiring into this stuff , and responding to and for ourselves differently, is certainly a big part of growing towards wholeness

23.01.2022 Some of the reasons why getting Craniosacral treatment ASAP after spinal cord injury can be soo valuable.. Uncontrolled inflammation is one of the most important pathological events in the secondary injury cascade, Ren said. It persists for a long period of time following a spinal cord injury. We know that myelin debris acts as an inflammatory stimulus that exacerbates secondary injury by activating other cells in the injured spinal cord that are actively involved in inflammatory responses during disease progression. Clearing myelin debris generated at the time of injury is critical in controlling the inflammatory response and to ensuring neural regeneration.

23.01.2022 Really interesting technique to help 'dummy foals' when they are in a state of system disorganization, don't recognize their moms and fail to nurse.. Normally, they are pumped full of drugs and force fed but this 'Madigan squeeze' is quite something.. From a Craniosacral perspective, where we meet the resistance of the tissue and add a tad , this is easily done with our hands. I haven't had opportunity to do it yet myself , but other Equine Craniosacral colleagues have done it without ropes...and what they do not consider here is pumping the parietals, and a dural tube rock and glide. All have worked very well too...which makes sense to those who understand how the craniosacral system functions.. :-) https://equimanagement.com//madigan-foal-squeeze-procedure

22.01.2022 The vagus nerve is the tenth cranial nerve and the longest. It is named Vagus because it wanders like a vagabond, sending out sensory fibers from your brainstem to your visceral organs. The Vagus nerve controls your inner nerve center, the parasympathetic and also oversees a wide range of essential functions and communicates motor and sensory impulses to every organ in your body. The parasympathetic nervous system is directly impacted by cranio-sacral therapy which brings the fight or flight response into rest and digest. Find out more about the myriad benefits of CST

15.01.2022 Treat your body and your mind with CST. Cranio-Sacral Integration is not merely treating the body. it recognises that mind, body and feelings are absolutel...y and inextricably intertwined. Instead it engages with every aspect of our being - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual. So it’s effects are profound and widespread and effective over a wide range of conditions and circumstances. Cranio-sacral integration is not treating people, it is treating the whole person at a fundamental and profound level. Visit www.ccst.co.uk to find out more.

14.01.2022 YES ! Thankyou Liz

13.01.2022 Be nice to think that doctors and practitioners might learn the need to actually educate themselves around this vital part of peoples wellbeing

11.01.2022 The Limbic System is known for processing emotions and emotional response. In addition, the Limbic Center's function is to process somatic sensory inputs, put ...those inputs into context, and respond to those inputs. When our environment stimulates a past association or memory, we are responding to those somatic inputs by bringing past events forward into the present moment. This can be highly beneficial as a survival mechanism, and it can be detrimental in the spectrum of PTSD. Because of the somatic inputs into the limbic system, we can use movement as a barometer to measure nervous system response.

11.01.2022 Nice one.. Awesome to see the microbiome being given the importance and consideration necessary for true wellbeing.. And by new groups..and across the globe.!!

09.01.2022 Treatment of the long term after effects with cranio-sacral therapy. So many people feel that they have never fully recovered from some infection be it a majo...r illness or an apparently insignificant viral infection and they are left with a lingering sense of unwellness, or sometimes with severely debilitating symptoms. Such symptoms are frequently dismissed as inexplicable or insoluble, but they are often due to residual effects on the meninges, and relief of symptoms can often be obtained through treatment of the meninges with cranio-sacral therapy. Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges or membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, usually due to a viral or bacterial organism which invades the meninges leading to inflammation and consequent scarring of these membranes. In its most serious and clearly recognisable form it leads to multiple symptoms most commonly affecting the head and neck (but potentially anywhere in the body) most notably headache, neck pain, nausea, vomiting and a characteristic retraction of the neck (as if the head were being forcibly pulled back by contracted tissues). In babies and children in particular meningitis can be fatal. In the majority of cases the acute symptoms of meningitis pass within days or weeks once the infection and inflammation have subsided, or have been treated. But in many cases residual symptoms persist - sometimes mildly, sometimes severely - sometimes immediately, sometimes emerging months or even years later, and often deteriorating steadily as time goes by. Even when only mild symptoms persist patients with a history of meningitis may say that they have never fully recovered, or never felt quite the same, since the time of the original infection. The persistent symptoms are often not regarded as being related to the meningitis and are often dismissed as malingering or stress related, perhaps primarily because no obvious explanation or solution is apparent.

08.01.2022 THANKS TO LISA ELLIOT FOR HER INSIGHT ...."We cannot fix what isn’t broken, though attempting to do so can perpetuate patterns of harm." "A note on how I have c...ome to think of the VAGUS: If we broaden our conception of the "vagus" and the many therapeutic modes that relate to it, what we're talking about is reducing stress, building our resources for recovery and safety, and finding peace and calm. Sources of pure presence, including some people, most animals, nature, mindfulness, instinctive movement, and so many more, help us do that. All our talk about "the vagus" maybe just a more well-articulated understanding of the physiology of human experience, and a map of how it occurs within and between many systems, previously misunderstood as being separate. Mind-body, gut-brain, experience-embodiment, trauma-autoimmunity (etc.), these are all one, in the way that the wave and the ocean are one, and this neurological tissue that we have organized our thinking around is the current that helps connect them all in a brilliant and sensitive multi-modal ecosystem. Building from this concept, the work of Porges, Levine, van der Kolk, Heller, and so many others have helped us account for the devastating effects the settings and experiences of our lives can have on our health and well-being, even across generations. Popular journalism talks of "stimulating, toning", "repairing", and even "hacking" this discrete part of our anatomy, but don't be misled. We're talking about experiencing ourselves as whole, unified beings who exist in continuous communication with our environment. Our bodies, our nervous systems, and the dance between all biological systems is more complex and interconnected than our reductionist sciences are equipped to describe. Unless you are one of the unlucky few to have sustained structural damage to your vagus nerve, your vagus is perfect, beautiful, brilliant and doing exactly what it is meant to. The value of the vagus study is that it shows us that to heal, to raise healthy children, even to address social injustice, we heal the whole system with a multiplicity of adjustments and inputs rather than with "quick fixes" which address only symptoms, and badly, at that. We cannot fix what isn’t broken, though attempting to do so can perpetuate patterns of harm. Jiddu Krishnamurti spoke some of the wiser words of our time, saying, It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society. Yes, our bodies and spirits can fall or be pushed out of balance, and we have joined in this group study to grow our capacity to heal. I believe it’s important to recognize the mode of thinking about what it means to be human that has caused so much suffering in the first place. It’s up to us, along with our teachers, mentors, healers, and guides of all kinds, to skillfully attune to this language of being and find a new truth that goes beyond the old models of natural systems which confuse the quantifiable, dissectible, and binary with what is real and lived." 07.01.2022 Hi folks.. This form that Rob is teaching in Saturdays workshop is really amazing.. I did a workshop learning it last year and my body was doing stuff after a few hours that it hadn't been comfortable doing for years.. And the response I got from some of my organs with the meridian work was pretty wow too.. I'd love you to join me in doing this if anyone is feeling it.. Rob needs to know by tomorrow morning..so please let him know asap.. Hope to see you there

06.01.2022 The Brain Speaks is coming up in the UK - 27-30 March in Brighton. Here is an excerpt from an interview with Avadhan Larson who will be instructing. Could you ...tell us a little about your background and what first got you interested - and then committed to - the CST work? I began my career as an acupuncturist in 1979. I kept hearing about this mysterious modality called CranioSacral Therapy, and I was intrigued. One weekend I received a massage at a local health spa and at the end of the session the therapist did two amazing things that dramatically changed my state both physically and mentally. (I didn’t know it at the time of course, but she did an OCB release and a CV4 still point.) I got off the table afterwards and said, What was that?? Wow! When she replied, "CranioSacral Therapy I began looking for a course. A few weeks later I enrolled in a CS1 class in San Francisco and midway through the first day I was hooked. I knew then that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life! I’ve been practicing CST now for 32 years, and teaching for 23. And loving every minute of it! What is the history of the The Brain Speaks (TBS) class from Dr Upledger's point of view and your sense of what was important for him when he developed it? Dr. John developed TBS during the first new wave of neurobiological research that emerged in the '90’s. It was (and continues to be) a very exciting time of exploration during which we really began to realise as a scientific community that what was known about the brain was not just the tip of the iceberg, but rather more akin to a molecule of frozen water on the tip of that iceberg! Because of his interest in and success with Therapeutic Imagery and Dialogue he decided to use it to explore brain functioning: Why don’t we just ask the brain and its parts how they work and what they do? From that beginning, the TBS class emerged as an exploratory adventure of discovery. The class has continued to develop over time, however, and has since emerged as a kind of brain overview class from a CST perspective. We use all the techniques of CST: palpation, listening, arcing, following tissue, as well as our dialogue skills, with an emphasis on palpation, evaluation and treatment. We learn brain anatomy from a thorough but experiential perspective, much as we learn about the anatomy of the CS system in CS1 and 2: we learn how to evaluate the brain, and the brain parts, recognise dysfunctions and then treat them very effectively with CST. How did you come to be involved in it and why? I took the first TBS1 class with Dr. John. It was the most exciting and fun class I had ever taken! Years later, when I began teaching it, I wanted to explore more efficient ways of communicating the material, however. Students would usually love the class, but confess that they didn’t use it in their clinical practices because they got overwhelmed by the amount of information and anatomy, and intimidated by the early emphasis on dialogue. So along with the other instructors I changed the approach we were taking, grounding it in palpation and treatment skills, including dialogue where needed, but relying much more on palpation and manual treatment approaches. We also broke the class down into more digestible parts, working in pairs like in CS1 and 2 and taking a systematic tour through the brain, working with just a few structures at a time during each lecture/demo/practice. We have found that as a consequence students leave TBS1 with skills and knowledge they are able to apply in their clinics right away. And of course they do so with phenomenal results! As CST’s we work successfully but indirectly with the brain and CNS every day, but when we begin to address these structures more directly our clinical results are dramatically improved. What do you feel are the key things students take from this class and bring to their clients and practices? Much more effective treatment of head injuries, seizure disorders, hormonal imbalances, migraines and headaches, neurodegenerative illnesses, and so many other things! What we don’t discover until we begin working with these structures is that often the brain dysfunctions are primary, and once they are addressed many other things resolve more easily and completely, including many bony and membranous lesion patterns! 04.01.2022 Performance Problems From Organs: Ovaries, Testicles & Gelding Scars. This is something that can affect ALL horses and is something that needs to be considered ...when there are performance problems. SYMPTOMS: Local lumbar-sacral issues such as poor canter transitions; lack of propulsion; cold back; reluctance on one rein; bucking/bunny hopping; irritation when raising leg for farrier; muscular tension as well as hypertrophic muscles or atrophy of certain muscle groups. There are multiple reasons for these symptoms but one that is often over-looked is the role of the gonads. WHY? Organs have a far more major role in the body and locomotion than we give them credit for. The gonads (sex organs) like all organs have a nerve supply. In horses these nerves come from and return to the first three lumbar vertebrae (L1-L2-L3). When there is irritation to the organs then their nerves become irritated which in turn causes irritation to the lumbar vertebrae. This can also go the other way too. Irritation to the lumbars can cause irritation to the organs linked to them. When the vertebrae become irritated all of the local muscle can become affected. In most cases this initially results in an increase in muscle tone. This is when you will initially notice the symptoms mentioned above. Over time the lumbar issue can spread to involve the sacrum and further forward to the withers and poll. This will cause further performance issues. OVARIES, TESTICLES & SCARS: Strong seasons and dietary/grass changes are some of the reasons that the ovaries can become affected. Also, foaling can be a factor. The testicles can have issues due to breeding or excessive strain. Gelding scars are problematic due to the fact that the scar can reduce mobility but also because during the operation the nerves to the testicles were cut and so are permanently irritated. Therefore resulting in permanent lumbar irritation. TREATMENT: Following a thorough evaluation it is possible to manipulate the ovaries, testicles and gelding scars. Ovaries and gelding scars are manipulated internally under sedation manually and with an internal red-light unit when necessary. It is important that the whole body is treated at the same time to remove as much other tension as possible. Should you have any issues or suspect this to be the case it is wise to investigate. NB The pictures below were taken mainly from Google.

03.01.2022 What if CranioSacral Therapy could help elimate the need for braces? This article says that "whether a child or an adult is planning to wear orthodontic braces..., CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is highly recommended as a conjoint therapy to minimize any side effects of dental work. In fact, CST prior to receiving braces can start to correct any functional restrictions present, and in some cases, may even eliminate the need for braces!" See for yourself in the comprehensive case history about a 14-year-old girl who had been suffering from headaches for over a year due to orthodontic braces. http://bit.ly/2JCcJqj

03.01.2022 All the theories in the world do not change what bones (and muscles when it is alive) reveal about how a horse lived and was ridden. This thoracic vertebra sho...ws how the facets remodeled to compensate for this horse's crookedness. This bone was presented by Dr Kerry Ridgway, Equine Therapeutic Options at a symposium in 2012 but his lesson stand today. Understanding the horse’s spinal alignment and how to create good posture is how a rider can truly benefit his horse's health and well being, and thus improve his/her performance. To create good spinal alignment requires we understand and work on independent balance, suppleness and straightness without over flexing the horse’s spine horizontally (neither inverting nor hyperflexing it ) or laterally or generally riding it crooked, blocking it or torquing it. Straightness means even-ness, symmetry, ambidexterity: the even development of both halves of the horse which allows it to use all its muscles and joints equally without taxing one more than another. Spinal health requires the rider remain aware at all times of the inner structure of the horse, of its bones, joints, nerves, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia and the need to maintain or enhance their integrity, strength, flexibility and stability. Think about what happens to bones, healthy and not so healthy when you add the concussive force of movement. This will be the subject of another post. 02.01.2022 "Babies with flat head syndrome may be at heightened risk of developmental delays, a new study has found. https://www.sciencedaily.com//170124111344.htmfbclid=...IwAR0 The research highlights the need for early and prompt assessment and intervention. The study is the first, rigorous systematic review examining the link between developmental delay and flat head, which affects one in every five babies." Although the study is no longer new, the findings mirror what we have taught at the college for many years. That treatment at the earliest possible opportunity is highly advisable. Not only will conditions respond more readily the sooner they are treated, and less readily the longer they have been there, but also the cranium and the body structure are constantly growing, fusing and consolidating into the patterns of growth imprinted on them, and become increasingly solidified and resistant to treatment with time. Response to treatment is generally fairly rapid, but will vary according to the age of the child and the chronicity of the condition. In young babies, the response should normally be very quick; as the child gets older, and consequently the cranial restrictions more established and consolidated, then several treatments may be required. It should also be remembered that the overt symptoms may be an indication of more complex underlying patterns of restriction and asymmetry in the cranium, the cranio-sacral system and the structure generally (which have yet to manifest as symptoms), and further treatment to resolve these underlying imbalances may be recommended in order to prevent the recurrence of the current condition or the subsequent emergence of other symptoms and conditions. While treatment of any pattern is possible throughout life into old age, the treatment process will take much longer where the condition has become established, and a complete resolution becomes less likely as time goes on. Early treatment and checking are therefore important, not simply for the treatment of current minor ailments, but primarily to ensure the complete resolution of any underlying distortions which might have longer-term and more debilitating consequences later in life by which time the restrictions may be too consolidated to achieve a complete release. For instance, dyslexia may not become apparent to the parents (or doctors) until school work falls behind by which time the condition has become consolidated and will take longer to resolve, when it could have been diagnosed by a cranio-sacral therapist at birth and corrected immediately. Midwives and health visitors are increasingly seeking alternative ways to explain and resolve infant and childhood conditions. Cranio-sacral therapy and other such complementary approaches offer alternative ways of approaching problems and resolving many common, troublesome and distressing ailments, drastically reducing the need for drugs and surgery and offering general improvement in health and well-being. It is to be hoped that cranio-sacral therapy will become an integral part of every maternity ward, and a standard part of the training for all health and medical professionals working with pregnant women, young babies and children.

01.01.2022 Dural lymphatics regulate clearance of extracellular tau from the CNS Alzheimer's disease is characterized by extracellular plaques of amyloid- (A) protein an...d intracellular aggregates of tau protein. A new study compared the clearance of tau proteins between wild-type mice and K14-VEGFR3-Ig transgenic mice, which lack a functional CNS lymphatic system. A significantly higher amount of is retained in the brains of K14-VEGFR3-Ig vs. wild type mice at 48 and 72 h post-injection and its subsequent clearance to the periphery is delayed. We found that clearance of tau as well as reference tracer human serum albumin (HSA) was significantly delayed in the K14-VEGFR3-Ig mice. Patel TK, Habimana-Griffin L, Gao X et al.
