The following stage 3 lockdown restrictions are in place from Wednesday, July 8 for the next six weeks. Remember you must stay home and only go out to: 1. Shop for food and necessary goods... 2. If you need to take care of others or receive medical care 3. For exercise 4. For work or training - and only if you cant do these activities from home. In any other case, you must stay at home. 06.01.2022 Today we remember and pay tribute to the ANZACs who served in battle and sacrificed their lives with many paying the ultimate price. An amazing video below of legend Arthur Legget, 102 years of age, ANZAC Crete Veteran, who speaks about what happened on the shores of Gallipoli. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; ... Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." LEST WE FORGET
06.01.2022 The Battle for Crete was one of the most dramatic battles of the Second World War. Over 12 days in May 1941 a mixed force of New Zealanders, British, Australian and Greek troops desperately tried to fight off a huge German airborne assault. Despite suffering appalling casualties, the parachutists and glider-borne troops who led the invasion managed to secure a foothold on the island and eventually gained the upper hand. The battle ended with the evacuation to Egypt of the bul...k of the Allied force. More than 1700 British, Commonwealth and Greek soldiers were killed and 15,000 captured during the Battle for Crete. There were 671 New Zealanders among the dead, and 2180 Kiwi prisoners of war. We continue to remember and commemorate The Battle of Crete every year, and never forget those who fought and risked there lives for freedom. Lest we forget
