18.01.2022 http://Exploring with Wattle Seeds// Today as part of our STEM exploration, children investigated with Wattle seeds in preparation for our food discovery classes. Miss Runa collected the Wattle seeds from her property and bought them into the centre for children to see and explore with. ... Children then joined Miss Louise in the STEM area where children discussed that wattle trees are native to Australia & Aboriginals use the seeds for bush tucker. So Children cracked open the pods and placed all the seeds on a baking tray. Miss Louise will dry them out over night & then in the morning we will use a mortar & pestle to grind them into a fine powder to use on our wattle seed damper. A great way to learn about our Aboriginal Culture.
