16.01.2022 For the love of yarn! Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would not only turn to crochet as a form of therapy to lean so heavily on for emotional and mental support but that I would actually enjoy it and be good at it!!.... As I’m not on my own home turf and being new to the world of yarn, I have little experience with brands. I have loved working with @vinniscolours yarn so far not only because it is a small locally owned business with a team that does everything by hand from dying to balling and skeining the yarn. The 100% cotton yarn is soft and easy to work with and I love the effect hand dying has on the yarn! 15.01.2022 I've been very quiet on here the last couple of months. The reason being is that due to the current health crisis, I have been caught up in the travel bana and border closures and for the last 10 weeks have been stuck outside the country in South Africa. In the meantime, I have taught myself to crochet and have been thinking of ways I can incorporate this new found skill into adding new baby nursery and kids room inspired decor product to my reperto...ire. Here is the result so far of testing out patterns, different yarns as well as my own skill and ability. 05.01.2022 I'll be honest, I am 100% winging my way through life right now. Caught out by the Australian Border closure back in March, I have spent the last almost 16weeks hanging out in South Africa. Of the many consequences I've found myself having to navigate the dynamic living situation, figuring out how to manage enquiries and orders for mobiles and the subsequent loss of income has brought huge anxiety, apprehension and angst.... In the midst of all of this, I've uncovered a new creative skill and outlet has not only been instrumental in helping keep my mental and emotional health above water, it has also inspired a wealth of new ideas. I've been hesitant to share my new creations and ideas through this channel as I didn't want to cause confusion and thought it may be best to keep them separate. Today I've reached a point of thinking nothing ventured, nothing gained. I don't know if and when things may or may not change. And I guess you reach a point where you need to decide to just start, despite not feeling ready and having all your ducks and stars aligned. So I've decided to start sharing my crochet journey here. What started off as an idea to create fun storage options as developed into creating a fun mix of origami shapes and amigurumi creations to make cute, creative and unique baby mobiles.
