20.01.2022 Welcome! Here's a foray into an introverts thoughts and feelings about movement, and sometimes music. After years of social media resistance, the only way to have an impact on others or at the very least REACH them is to play the socials game. We're told to be authentic on here, so as someone who's "authentic voice" is pretty quiet, this is going to be quite the journey of discovery. I'm here to invite you to think differently about the way you exercise. ... Im here to invite you to begin by calling it movement, and already the possibilities that open up to you are endless. I want you to understand that the fitness industry has been towing the line since forever. Rarely do we find something new and inspirational, we tend to just find the same things with a different sticker on the box. This journey is about empowering you to understand your body and the way it moves. Aesthetics will be a by-product. Together we want to find a balance. Vin

12.01.2022 How still can you be... Under fatigue When you’re sore... After a couple espresso’s When you haven’t slept Before you need to start your second shift And beyond..? Can you feel the echo of these things ripple outwards through your body? How often do we you search for stillness in motion? This is a fun tool I learned from Emma Louise Robson that I try to do at varying times in different settings. It’s just as frustrating as jenga, but less stressful Hit me up at @aspencoaching or @plusfitness 24/7 Mount Lawley to witness my sensei pants in their complete glory

11.01.2022 TL;DR - You can fine tune your instrument to hell but if your intonation is out, your tuning means shit. At the beginning of 2019 one of the goals I set myself was to achieve a 60 second free standing handstand. This loooong ass post isnt about the why I chose that journey, it is more about the process. I jumped straight in the deep end and while working 3 jobs I trained every god damn day thinking that this alone would lead me to handstand god status.......yeahhhh nah. ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Locomotion.. In the movement community we often hear the best way to learn is to isolate, integrate, and then improvise. We learn to flex, extend, twist, bend etc, just like we would learn the notes on a piano one by one.... Then, we can start creating chords. The movement equivalent of this (integrating) is learning compound movements like squatting, pushing, pulling and so on. Then what? Do we just play scales up and down the piano? Boring. Do we just play the same chord progressions over and over? Think of it this way. We learn the alphabet, then we learn to stick letters together to form words. Then we write stories....or write songs to continue with the first analogy. The same applies to moving. Express yourself, play. Some days, you pick up your instrument and youre a bit rusty - your tempo is all over the place and you hit a few wrong notes. Theres a beauty in sharing imperfection, and colouring outside the lines. Go play.
