25.01.2022 Extended Care Paramedics (ECPs) can prescribe antibiotics, perform sutures, set dislocations, and much more. They are an essential part of the NSW Ambulance service. Why, then, does NSW Ambulance make it so hard to train to be an ECP when you live rurally or regionally? Why do they force Paramedics to relocate to Sydney, with no guarantee of their previous job available to them? Every person in NSW should have the same access to great emergency medical care if they need it.... NSW Ambulance must do better. #wedeservebetter #paramedicsdeservebetter #NSWdeservesbetter

24.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who supported Paramedics and our essential worker colleagues this week!

18.01.2022 Yesterday, the IRC handed down their decision regarding the applications made by the PSA, NMA, HSU and ASMOF regarding the annual 2.5% wage increase. This dec...ision does not relate to those employed under the Paramedics and Control Centre Officers (State) Award. The IRC determined that salaries and allowances in the relevant awards should be increased by 0.3% with effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2020. In pushing for a wage freeze, the NSW Government has shown how little it truly values frontline workers. We stand in solidarity and fury with all workers who have worked tirelessly through the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters. At the beginning of this fight we made the decision to have our case heard separately, and our proceedings are still underway. We will continue to work hard to win every Paramedic the 2.5% wage increase we more than deserve.

17.01.2022 APA (NSW) is pleased that a new Upper House inquiry will focus on the needs of regional, rural and remote communities and their access to health care. Make sure to follow this page and Australian Paramedics Association NSW to find out more about how we're fighting for Paramedics across NSW.

13.01.2022 Did you know NSW Ambulance still allocate resources based on 2010 population levels? The outcome is that communities like Picton and Castle Hill have some of the slowest response times in Greater Sydney. How is this acceptable? The latest Bureau of Health Information Quarterly Report shows the shocking reality of under-resourcing.... This tool is a great way to see response times in your area http://www.bhi.nsw.gov.au/search-ambulance-performance

13.01.2022 When you look at the cold, hard facts it is as clear as day where the priorities of the NSW Government lie. Paramedics have always put their community first. NSW Ambulance is asking rural Paramedics’ to abandon their communities and their families, if they want to gain additional skills. Do you believe that regional, rural and remote communities deserve better? Share this post!

13.01.2022 It has been a tough year. In tough times we rely on each other more than ever. The importance of being a union member has never been clearer than it is now. Wh...en we asked Executive Committee Member Janna DaRos on what solidarity meant to her, she said: "To me it means being part of a group of like-minded people. I think ambos are really good at this. Whether it’s the same sense of black humour or rallying around each other after the hard jobs we are there for each other when it counts." What does solidity mean to you?

12.01.2022 APA (NSW) members and delegates have been working hard over the last two months to produce over a hundred pages of evidence about why the proposed wage cut woul...d damage the economy and the lives of public sector workers. Paramedics, dispatchers and call takers have done extraordinary work this year, working through traumatic and unprecedented events. We have learnt new skills, adapted to changing protocols daily, and kept the public safe. APA (NSW) will continue to fight against the proposed wage cut.

11.01.2022 Paramedics across NSW are saying NO to the Premier's money grab. Industrial action in the form of billing bans and chalking will continue until further notice. The essential workers who have supported the people of NSW through fires, floods and now COVID-19 should be rewarded for their efforts - not punished. 11.01.2022 Thanks to all Paramedics standing in solidarity and taking action, the NSW Premier had her proposal to freeze the wages of all public sector workers voted down in the NSW Legislative Council. But despite this, the Premier has elected to continue her attack on wages in the Industrial Relations Commission. In coming weeks, we will be asking for your help to keep the fight going and ensure that the Premier knows that her attack on our wages has no support. #wedeservebetter #paramedicsdeservebetter #NSWdeservesbetter

08.01.2022 APA (NSW) Delegate Brett Simpson and Paramedic at Kogarah has a message of support for his colleagues. Stand together and support each other. Chalking and Billing Bans to continue until further notice. More information for members here: https://bit.ly/NoPayCut

06.01.2022 Paramedics and their other health colleagues are barely holding together a chronically under resourced health system. The NSW Government keeps promising more resources, but NSW Ambulance have used additional funding as a cost saving measure. Despite NSW Ambulance being funded for 700 new Paramedics, they still use 2010 population levels when determining how many Paramedics a community requires. This Government needs to step up and support our Paramedics.

05.01.2022 When response times are slow, your loved ones lives are put at risk. When you call for help, you need an ambulance there quickly. Despite this, the Bureau of Health Information reporting for the January to March quarter 2020 has showed response times slowing even more. There has been a worsening of response times over the past 5 years. Yet we see no meaningful action to resolve this issue.

03.01.2022 While our fight against the disgraceful wage cut proposed by the NSW Government enters the Industrial Relations Commission, our delegates continue to work behind the scenes, advocating for their communities and colleagues. We want to take this week to look at APA (NSW)’s long running fight to save the Extended Care Paramedic (ECP) program. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated why it’s more important than ever to have access to specialist medical care when you need it. The ECP ...program was introduced to allow people to be treated at home instead of having to go to hospital. On a regular basis, half of the funded ECP positions are not being filled or rostered on road. Where are our specialists? #wedeservebetter #paramedicsdeservebetter #NSWdeservesbetter

01.01.2022 What an incredible day of solidarity! The Premier's wage cut has been blocked in the NSW Upper House. Thank you to all essential workers and their supporters who worked to stop the pay cut. Paramedics showed the Premier we will not accept her empty words! We will continue to fight against attacks on our pay and conditions.
