07.01.2022 The paranaple centre turns 1 today! And there are lots of good reasons to celebrate in your library! DID YOU KNOW? In the year since the paranaple centre first ...opened its doors... Devonport Library gates on the ground and first floors have recorded almost 400,000 visits (thats around 1,250 visits per day to our library and Service Tasmania/Council customer service spaces). A total of 2,328 new members have joined the library since September 3 last year a 93% increase on the same period in 2017-18. The library holds almost 38,000 items as part of a Libraries Tasmania state-wide collection (its called a floating collection because you can borrow and return items anywhere across our network). And in the past 12 months, 206,629 items (including books, cds and dvds) have been issued to library members - thats eight items for every one person living in Devonport. A grand total of 8,270 people have participated in library programs since we opened a year ago today thats 4,085 children plus 4,185 adults and an incredible 111% increase on program attendance for the same period in 2017-18. Libraries Tasmania Wi-Fi usage in the paranaple centre has grown by a massive 249% too. A total of 118,507 individual Wi-Fi sessions have been recorded since opening day. Together with the 17,854 sessions booked on the librarys public PCs, thats a whole lot of access and free connectivity. Devonport Library is part of a local catchment including libraries at Latrobe, Sheffield, Ulverstone and Penguin. Together we offer an exceptional library service to almost 65,000 Tasmanians! Come celebrate with us in Devonport this week and take a closer look. #yourlibrary #devonportlibrary #takeacloserlook Libraries Tasmania Devonport City Council paranaple convention centre

01.01.2022 The Devonport City Council is closely monitoring the evolving situation in regard to COVID-19. As you may be aware, on advice from Australias Chief Medical Off...icer Professor Brendan Murphy, the federal government has advised against non-essential gatherings of 500+ people from Monday 16 March as a precautionary measure. In accordance with this advice, we will proceed with Tuesday nights performance of 50 Shades! The Musical Parody. As always, the safety of our audience, employees and artists is our highest priority. Devonport City Council have taken additional measures to ensure The Town Hall Theatre remains a safe and enjoyable environment, and have increased cleaning regimes, particularly across public areas. If you are sick or have any flu like symptoms, such as fever, a cough or difficulty breathing, please stay home and contact the box office for a refund by 17th March. If you are not sick, but consider yourself at high risk, we will offer a refund on a discretionary basis. When attending the show, we ask that you please be vigilant regarding hygiene practices. For the latest advice and information please go to www.health.gov.au With regard to future performances, we are in discussions with all respective promoters and will post regular updates on our website and through our social media channels.
