25.01.2022 "Kind words, caring words, build trust and respect - and a relationship of love" #children #parents #parenting #relationships #discipline

22.01.2022 Our older children also need exercise breaks.

22.01.2022 Why empathy and interacting with others is important for our teens and children.

22.01.2022 I found this to be a thought-provoking article. I have a child leaving school this year, and unable to truly mark the occasion of transition to adulthood. Yet, "research has shown how schoolies and gap year travel act as rituals to mark and manage the otherwise often unremarkable transition to adulthood. These episodes provide a meaningful break with normal life and past identity. They see young people leave their comfort zone to experience a sense of community with their peers, before moving to the next stage of life."

20.01.2022 Great list of simple games to play.

19.01.2022 A life-changing and moving book that I read during the Covid lockdown was Overstory, by Richard Powers (which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2019). This was a story that detailed the life and importance of America's old growth forest. The article below contains breathtaking photos and information on Australia's little-known giant trees, and, in a similar vein to Overstory, why they need to be protected and preserved. #futureforourchildren #environment #trees #childrenandnature

14.01.2022 This is not something I would normally post on this page, but I feel it's time to act. Protection of Australia's natural environment is on the cusp of being weakened. In order to ensure a healthy world for our children's future, we need to safeguard our natural world, now. Here is one way, if you feel strongly, your family can voice their concern for the environment (recently devastated by the bushfires).

14.01.2022 Wow this article resonates. We really need to just listen - non-judgmentally. (here is a guide about how to listen and empathise) https://www.parentskills.com.au//Active%20listening%20Pare #motherhood #children

11.01.2022 Fascinating - and helpful. For all the family.

10.01.2022 Some ideas on helping our children sleep.

09.01.2022 Oh, I'm at a loss for words. "stemming the rising tide of plastic pollution starts with individuals, communities and governments we all have a role to play. Reusing, refusing and recycling are good places to start."

09.01.2022 Time to talk about the losses we share.

08.01.2022 It's all about relationship.

07.01.2022 An beautiful, innovative, caring program. I wonder why this is unique - I'd love to see this replicated around Australia.

06.01.2022 "Being trauma-informed does not mean teachers and schools must be trained to treat trauma. Rather they must understand the impact it can have on children’s lives."

05.01.2022 This might be helpful for our daughters, as well as ourselves.

03.01.2022 Empowering children.

01.01.2022 I'd love to see our children learning more about disasters - including how to prepare, such as the importance of a bushfire plan.
