25.01.2022 Merry Christmas to our wonderful PARF community! What an unforgettable year 2020 has been. Thank you all for your unwavering support, especially during these uncertain times. With your help, we have been able to continue to raise funds for groundbreaking medical research and patient care initiatives at the PA Hospital. We are so grateful for our community who are as passionate about our mission as we are! We hope you all have a safe and relaxing break. And a big shout out to all of the healthcare heroes working hard over Christmas and the New Year. Our team will be enjoying a well-earned break until Jan 11, with our office closed during this period. We look forward to catching up with you all in a bigger and brighter 2021!

24.01.2022 A new research project we are funding this year is aiming to increase detection rates of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease among people with type 2 diabetes. Led by hepatologist and UQ researcher Professor Elizabeth Powell, the project will see researchers work closely with GPs and diabetes specialists to implement a practical pathway to optimise care of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in high risk patients with Type 2 diabetes. 24.01.2022 Do you know how to do a breast check? In Australia, over half of breast cancers are diagnosed as a result of a breast change found by a woman or by her doctor. Our Breast Check Kit will show you what to do and act as a gentle reminder to check every month: https://bit.ly/3bPxH1Y. And even though 9 out of 10 breast changes arent due to cancer, getting to know whats normal for you could save your life: https://bit.ly/3bPxH1Y.

23.01.2022 Meet Shari. In March of this year, at just 31 years old, the mother of one discovered she had a sarcoma in her left arm; a rare and aggressive form of cancer that affects bone and soft tissue. Shari had to have her arm amputated in order to treat the cancer and spent seven weeks in total at the PA recovering. Shari remains incredibly grateful for the care and diligence of her medical team at the PA, crediting her healthcare hero, Surgeon Prof Mark Smithers for saving her life. 22.01.2022 Christmas Day is tomorrow! We’ve been busy sorting and wrapping gifts for the 600 seriously ill patients who will be waking up here at the PA in the morning We are so grateful for all of the generous people who have donated towards our Christmas Appeal but there’s still more we’d like to do. Our goal here at the PA Research Foundation is to improve patient care through ground-breaking research and initiatives such as our patient gift drive but we can’t continue to fund this... important work without the help of people in our community like you! Your donations will help us improve hospital amenities to ensure patients and their families have access to things like coffee machines, private rooms for discussions with health professionals and even expanding our therapy dog program You can make a donation towards our Christmas Appeal today to help us give our patients the best possible care here at the PA: https://pa-research-foundation.giveeasy.org/2020-xmas-appeal

18.01.2022 Our patients here at the PA were so grateful for the kindness shown to them on Christmas Dayall thanks to people like you. But we still have more work to do! You might be surprised to hear that, as well as ground-breaking research, we fund a number of initiatives throughout the PA campus to ensure that our patients receive the best possible treatment AND care. That’s why we’re turning to our community to help us make improvements such as adding coffee machines to waiting ro...oms, refurbishing waiting rooms in areas like cancer services and extending our therapy dog program Improvements and upgrades like these may seem trivial compared to the enormity of the challenges faced by those who are seriously ill but they really do play a vital role in the overall health and wellbeing of our patients. It’s not too late to donate towards our Christmas appeal to help ensure we can continue to fund initiatives and improve patient care at the PA Hospital. Whatever you can spare, we would be so grateful. You can make a donation here https://pa-research-foundation.giveeasy.org/2020-xmas-appeal
