23.01.2022 went to my first show in 10 years it was amazing preparing dahlias for show trimming the stem of side buds and leaves to get maximum growth then get struck down with a heat wave that wipes out my large cat and large decs to top it off 2 days before the show it pours in one hit breaking the 6 months drought... so there i am picking what dahlias i had left hoping that a little sunshine to bring out a few more petals the day before the show load my car to leave at 430am arrive at 545am at nowra showground just in time for doors to open SO AS YOU CAN SEE IT IS A BIG JOB BUT WAS IT WORTH IT THERE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 5 OTHER PEOPLE SHOWING THEIR DAHLIAS ONE HAD THEIR HOUSE BURN DOWN WHILE TRYING TO SAVE THEIR SHED THEN PUT HIS EFFET TO SAVE THE HOUSE AND LOST ALL ONE LOST ALL HER FLOWERS IN THE HAIL ON THE COAST 2 DAYS BEFORE AND ONE COMING TO THE SHOW SHOW WITH WET CONDITIONS SLAMMED ON HIS BREAKS AND LOST HALF OF HIS DAHLIAS BUT GOT TO THE SHOW OH AND THE 5 HAD TO BECOME THE JUDGE AS THEY THOUGHT NO ONE WOULD SHOW DID THEy GET A SURPRISE WHEN I TURNED UP WITH ALL THESE FLOWERS AND HEAPS MORE TO GIVE AWAY TO SEE THEIR SMILES MADE MY WEEK

20.01.2022 Got the new bigger greenhouse benches built just in time for lifting, washing and trimming tubers. Oh how I love this time of the year But a lot easier now wit...h wider benches, although not quite halfway through the 640 odd tubers, seems never ending this year. Still, had an early Christmas present from Hotbox, yesterday, two new bigger heat mats. Just need to re-site the electrics, and I'll be happy as Larry See more
