23.01.2022 Have you Met Chris yet? Hi My name is Chris and I am excited to have come here to Parkside Community Childcare and Early Learning Centre as the Team Leader in the babies room. A little about myself:... I have 35years of experience in childcare working at different sites. My longest stint was 19years at a service. I am passionate about providing high quality care to all children and I love my job! Away from childcare I enjoy night owl bowling, trivia nights and travelling to and supporting Bali communities. I also enjoy socialising with friends, and I hope its okay to say that I am a Port supporter. I am enjoying getting to know your children and the staff have been welcoming. Please say hi and introduce yourself if I have not had the opportunity to meet you yet. Regards Chris See more

23.01.2022 When I'm building in the block area, Please don't say I'm "just playing." For you see, I'm learning as I play, About balances and shapes. Who knows, I may be an architect someday.... When I'm getting all dressed up, Setting the table, caring for the babies, Don't get the idea I'm "just playing." For you see, I'm learning as I play; I may be a mother or father someday. When you see me up to my elbows in paint Or standing at an easel, Or molding and shaping clay, Please don't let me hear you say, "He is just playing." For you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm expressing myself and being creative. I may be an artist or an inventor someday. When you see me sitting in a chair "Reading" to an imaginary audience, Please don't laugh and think I'm "just playing.' For you see, I'm learning as I play. I may be a teacher someday. When you see me combing the bushes for bugs, Or packing my pockets with choice things I find, Don't pass it off as "just play.' For you see, I'm learning as I play. I may be a scientist someday. When you see me engrossed in a puzzle Or some "plaything' at my school, Please don't feel the time is wasted in 'play.' For you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning to solve problems and concentrate. I may be in business someday. When you see me cooking or tasting foods, Please don't think that because I enjoy it, It is 'just play.' I'm learning to follow direction and see differences. I may be a cook someday. When you see me learning to skip, hop, Run and move my body, Please don't say I'm "just playing." For you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning how my body works. I may be a doctor, nurse or athlete someday. When you ask me what I've done at school today, And I say, "I just played', Please don't misunderstand me. For you see, I'm learning as I play. I'm learning to enjoy and be successful in my work. I'm preparing for tomorrow. Today, I am a child and my work is play. - Anita Wadley See more

22.01.2022 Dear Families, Thankyou for your patience in this uncertain time. I would like to clarify some points: We will remain open for essential services as outlined by the police commissioner this afternoon which include but are not limited to:... Critical infrastructure including power, telecommunications, water;Supermarkets for essential food;Bottle shops;Medical supplies and medical services;Public transport;Airport and essential freight;Petrol stations;Post offices and banking institutions;Child care and schools for essential services workers only;Veterinary;Essential agriculture services ;Factories that need to remain open for essential machinery upkeep and production of essential products only; andMining and smelting for continuity and to prevent damage. If you are classed as an essential worker, but there is someone at home to care for your child i.e one adult in the household is a non-essential worker who is working from home then your child must stay at home with the adult who is at home.If you are classed as an essential worker your employer will have provided you today with documentation stating your requirement to work, please provide this for both parents when dropping your child to the centre so that we can remain compliant if audited or visited by SA Police. Thankyou for your understanding while we navigate through this crisis. Kind Regards Hayley Handler Childcare Director

18.01.2022 It is something that we dont talk about enough. This is the hardest thing for a family to go through and it is a journey that is unimaginable to most. At Parkside we are not just a childcare centre we are a part of the community and an extension of many families. We send our love to all who have experienced this heartache and will work closely with SIDS and Kids Australia to ensure that we reduce the number of families who go through this

15.01.2022 Behaviour is another form of communication. As an adult, we can help our children learn to find whats underneath, whats actually going on. Learning at a young age will help them as they grow to regulate their emotions and know they arent bad or naughty.

We have seen that our friends at Il Nido Children's Centre are having a messy mud day and that we would jump on board and join in So please dress your children in clothes that are able to get messy and muddy so they can join in the fun...
