25.01.2022 Getting bored of the same balance and hopping program? Why not try some of these plyometric exercises?! During our daily routine we dont just move forward and backwards. We load our ankles in many directions, so why not prepare them for that? Exercises:... 1) Z- hops 2) 90 and 180 degree rotation hops 3) lateral step hops See more

25.01.2022 More and more of us are now working from home. Who has taken the time to ensure they have a good ergonomic setup? Here are a few generic tips to reduce the load on your body while you are in a sustained standing and/or sitting position. Please remember good work practices, such as taking regular postural breaks, are just as important if not more so. By taking a break you are giving your body a rest from the sustained loading and therefore avoiding early onset of fatigue.

23.01.2022 Great news Parmelia Physio community! Our hydrotherapy program is returning this week and our physios could not be more excited to jump back in the pool We will be running our classes on Fridays from 12 -1pm at the Kwinana Requatic Centre. Please call Parmelia Physio clinic on 94395466 to book

23.01.2022 To all the special mums out there; We hope you find a moment to put your feet up and enjoy a peaceful hot cuppa, you deserve it x

22.01.2022 Our head weighs between 4.5 and 5kg on average. With correct posture, your head doesn’t feel like it weighs much at all because it’s perfectly balanced and positioned. Text-neck causes excessive and avoidable stress on the neck and upper back. Limiting phone use, taking regular breaks to reduce fatigue (that causes you to slump forward) and performing basic neck and upper back stretches can help reduce posture related headaches and neck pain. - Thanks to @theherofix for the imagery

21.01.2022 Amanda said farewell to maternity leave and is back in the clinic! Appointments are available Mondays, Tuesday evenings and Thursdays. Call the clinic on 94395466, pop in to say "hi" or visit our website to check out Amandas next available time.

21.01.2022 Spot the difference! If you visited the clinic lately, you would have noticed we have taken extra hygeine measures in response to the recent coronavirus outbreak. We have; - spaced our waiting room chairs 1.5m apart -removed all toys and reading material that can't be cleaned... -signs and lines to encourage safe social distancing -hand sanitiser at reception for use upon arrival -we have increased our cleaning and disinfecting routines We also screen all our patients to ensure everyone attending the clinic is free of any cold/flu-like symptoms, nor have they travelled recently or been in direct contact with someone who has had the coronavirus. Stay safe everyone! We are doing our best to keep our clinic safe and clean

21.01.2022 Great news! Our online bookings are now back up and running Thankyou for your patience

19.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder While it is SUPER exciting to enter phase 3 restrictions , it is still important to continue practicing social distancing and to stay at home if you are unwell. For the safety of our staff and patients attending the clinic, we are still asking those who are unwell or who have been in direct contact of someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, to call and reschedule your appointments. In return we will continue to maintain our strict cleaning and disinfecting practices to keep everyone safe.

13.01.2022 While our daily routine is changing, make sure you find time to look after your body. Without gyms, fitness classes and usual commutes it is easy to lose that activity that keeps you supple and free to move. These stretches are great for anyone that spends plenty of time in a seated position. That includes desk jockeys, truck drivers and even the book worms, crafters, movie buffs and computer gamers at home. 1) Back extensions... 2) Hip flexor stretch 3) Trunk rotations 4) Chest stretch Don’t forget that our musculoskeletal system needs a little TLC once in a while.

13.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN and have taken extra measures to keep our clinic squeaky clean and virus free. We take our patients' health and safety, and our own, very seriously and want you to feel safe visiting us. Some of the extra measures include: -more frequent washing of hands for staff -alcohol gel is in reception for all patients to use when arriving and leaving -magazines have been removed from the waiting room -waiting room chairs have been spaced out for social distancing... -theres a line marking where to stand at the reception desk -surfaces such as chairs, door handles and desks are wiped down frequently using antibacterial wipes -extra measures are taken to ensure all equipment is thoroughly cleaned after each use. Being apart of the health industry we have always worked to uphold a high level of hygiene at the clinic. With the ever changing situation, we want you to know we are keeping up to date with all health department requirements and are implementing every safety precaution accordingly.

09.01.2022 A bit of creativity never hurts

08.01.2022 Did you know pelicans can flex their spines through their mouth?

06.01.2022 A quick introduction to some key point into how to set up your home workstation ergonomically. Position is important to delay fatigue and the poor postures that come with it, however regular postural breaks and good work habits are just as cruicial.

06.01.2022 Its the last day of 2019! Parmelia Physiotherapy would like to take this opportunity to thank all our loyal patients for making this a successful busy year. We have enjoyed working with each and everyone of you. Our days wouldn't be the same without the friendly chats and cheeky banter we have with the people that come through the door. We look forward to what the new year brings and cannot wait to share with you what we have to offer in 2020!

05.01.2022 And the s are back up and running! Feel free to call with any of your enquiries or bookings ! Sorry again for any inconvenience again. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

05.01.2022 Heres a great demo of how to effectively wash your hands. Make sure you clean every aspect of your hands, wrists and even up your forearms. https://youtu.be/tswQXTySS24

05.01.2022 For all the desk jockeys out there here’s a couple of ways to give your back a break during the 9-5 grind. Ideally the best you can do is change position regularly. Find opportunities to stand and stretch your legs. For example, go for a walk to get a glass of water or stand up when you are on the phone. We understand changing your position may not always be realistic, so here’s a couple of options to help you through the day. 1. Trunk rotation 2. Thoracic extensio...n - ensure your bottom is at the back of your chair and chin stays tucked in 3. Trunk side flexion 4. seated forward bend with added rotation 5. glute stretch 6. glute stretch See more
