22.01.2022 Last night we had another great meeting! It was themed "You are what you think" and both the prepared and impromptu sessions definitely had members and guests thinking! 20.01.2022 What a night! We had 52 people join us all together for our meeting tonight! We had members from near and as far as Brisbane, Dubai and the Philippines ! We had an array of speeches tonight that were very fitting to the theme "The Great Debate"! We started the night off with a collaborative Table Topic! Members were split into different breakout rooms and asked to come back to pitch an idea for our blog: https://parramattatoastmasters.wordpress.com/ ...We had 6-7 people in each group coming up with different ideas and they then came back and pitched their ideas to Gary and Elizabeth WIlson who then debated on which pitch was best! In the second half of our session we had six speeches. Vanessa Francis did her Icebreaker, Barbara Mifsud spoke about her mentor Old Ed, John New and Michael Fong spoke about leadership (REMINDER: Elections are soon so please nominate yourself if you are interested in joining the executive for 2020-2021), Elizabeth Wilson debated who she was as she explored her family history and Veronica Bayani who joined us from the Philippines presented her personal speech "When everything burns". They were evaluated by Karl Pereira, Edim Hujdur, Suben Subenthiran, Sean Leise, Matt Tonkiss and David Griffiths. We also inducted our newest member Deborah Phillips! Rob Tibbertsma, her neighbor highlighted her journey so far! Congratulations Deborah! We are excited to see your Toastmasters journey! Welcome!!! It was a wonderful night! The Best Speaker was Veronica Bayani, Best Evaluator David Griffiths was and Best Table Topics went to Group 4: Mandy C, Matt T, Michael F, Omar I, Laurie and Ann, Naomi N, and Vivek Signal! 19.01.2022 Tonight was our first #virtual meeting! We had 22 members join us online for our meeting themed practice makes perfect! The meeting was a testament to the theme as we navigated through the digital world! We had table topics, 3 prepared speeches Anu Vijayan presented a virtual presentation on Jallikattu, Sue Ismiel presented a personal speech "A beautiful mind" and Sabesh Sitsabesan shared his aspirations and these were followed by our evaluations by Gary Wilson, James Nieradka and Michael Said. We also had our first online visitor - thank you for joining us April!

18.01.2022 Its officially the start of Autumn! Join us for our first meeting of March this Thursday (5/3/2020). We meet at 6:15pm in the Steeds Room at Rydges Parramatta. As usual we will have impromptu speaking and prepared speeches. Visitors are always welcome!

17.01.2022 On Thursday we had our Changeover meeting! We said farewell to our executive for the 2019-2020 year and thanked Wendy Lipski (President), Sabesh Sitsabesan (Vice-President Education), Rob Tibbertsma (Vice-President Membership), Christine Huynh (Vice President - Public Relations), Anu Vijayan (Secretary), Edim Hujdur (Treasurer), Omar Ikhrais (Sergeant-At-Arms) and Michael Fong (Immediate Past President) for their service. We acknowledged the achievements of our members ove...r the 2019-2020. The Winner of the Clubs Toastmaster of the Year Trophy was Sabesh Sitsabesan, the Presidents Recognition Award for Outstanding Service to the Club went to Christine Huynh and the Presidents Encouragement Award for Most Improved Toastmaster went to Barbara Mifsud. The Peter Poulson Memorial Award for Best Speech of the Year went to Vicki Sheehan. We also celebrated years in Toastmasters marking Suben Subenthiran and Gary Wilsons service to Toastmasters. We also welcomed our new executive for the 2020-2021 year. Welcome to Sean Leise (President), Rob Tibbertsma (Vice-President Education), Vicki Sheehan (Vice-President Membership), Alicia Leise (Vice President - Public Relations), Andrew Emerson (Secretary), Suben Subenthiran (Treasurer), Marko Matic (Sergeant-At-Arms) and Wendy Lipski (Immediate Past President). We know they will do amazing things and are looking forward to the first meeting of the 2020-2021 year on the 2nd July.

16.01.2022 On Thursday we had our first hybrid meeting! We had members presenting both face to face and via zoom! It was wonderful to meet face to face and also include our online members. We had lots of measures in place including our social distancing spoon, temperature checks and lots of sanitiser! Throughout the night we had a number of speeches including a roast! We also had an educational presented by Matt Tonkiss and we also inducted Jack Xu! Jack Xu recently completed his the Speech Craft course and we are excited to have him on board! We wish him the best of luck on his Toastmasters journey!

15.01.2022 On Thursday the 21st of May we had our meeting themed "From Boss to leader". We had a variety of speeches on the night which spoke to theme. We also inducted two new members! Congratulations to April Guilandro and Avik Sarkar who joined the club - We are excited to see you grow and develop on this journey! Mike Kano-McCallum took the ribbon for Best Table Topics, Best Speaker was awarded to Wendy Lipski and the Best Evaluator was Matt Tonkiss. Chairperson Edim Hujdur als...o handed out his own wooden spoon! It was awarded to Ron Mariott! If you missed this meeting - you have a second chance! 14.01.2022 Great day at Western Division contest today! Seven members came along to cheer on Vicki and Alicia. Vicki represented Parramatta Toastmasters in the International Speech and Table. Topics contests.... Alicia represented Western Gourmet in the Evaluation contest!!! And bring home the trophies they did!! Vicki was runner-up in both contests. And Alicia WON the evaluation contest!!! Congrats to both for a wonderful result!! Alicia will now continue onto the District Evaluation contest that will be held at the Annual Conference at Port Macquarie on 29th, 30th and 31st May.

We also had a speeches by Omar Ikhrais "Dont get dismayed", Rob Tibbertsma "This time is different...or is it", Karl Pereira presented "The Importance of Social Media and Networking Technologies" and Matt Tonkiss showed us through educational software and sold it to us! During our business sessi...on we voted on a motion on notice through a google form which allowed us to collected responses instantaneously! We also had a poll at the end of the night that showed the results live! The Best Table Topic went to Mandy Chiu, Best Speaker was Rob Tibbertsma and Best Evaluator was Vicki Sheehan. 10.01.2022 What a great afternoon!!! Area 13 International and Evaluation Contest proved to be a very fruitful for Parramatta Toastmasters! Vicki Sheehan won the International Speech Contest, and the Evaluation Contest was won by Alicia Leise - representing Western Gourmet Toastmasters. ... Ron Marriott placed a very strong 2nd in the Evaluation contest. The full results were:- International Speech First - Vicki Sheehan (Parramatta TM) Second - Matt Gardiner (Winners Circle) Third - Karl Zhao (Justice) Evaluation Contest First - Alicia Leise (Western Gourmet) Second - Ron Marriott (Parramatta TM) Third - Sarah Morrissey (Winners Circle) We had thirteen members there this afternoon, not only to cheer our representatives on, but also helping out with the contest. Ian Lipski - International Contest Toastmaster Karl Pareira - Evaluation Contest Toastmaster Wendy Lipski - Toast Michael Said - Chief Judge Mandy Chiu - Laughmaster Sean Leise - Counter And of course a club judge, who should remain anonymous!! A big thank you to our very competent Area 13 Director Sally Lai for a well run contest! A great event Thanks to all who came along and enjoyed the extremely high standard of speeches, evaluations, and the camaraderie of Area 13!!

10.01.2022 Remembrance Day is symbolised by the poppy, which flowered on the battlefields of World War I. It is commemorated on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front and is traditionally a day to remember the members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. #d90toastmasters

09.01.2022 This week we had an array of speeches at our meeting themed Spring into Speechcraft. A meeting which celebrated our Speechcraft that is starting this week. Marko Matic presented his Icebreaker, Michael Fong spoke about the individuals he will be looking up to when little Matty arrives. Peter Steinhour highlighted the role that mentors play in our lives as he spoke about three mentors that have shaped his life, Monique Tonna presented her High Performance Leadership Speech... Behind the Line and spoke about the incredible journey that she has been on. Gary finished off the night off with a speech entitled The odd one out. Congratulations goes out to Monique Tonna who took out Best Speech of the night, Ron Marriott won Best Evaluator, Wendy Lipski had the best Table Topic, Marko received his Icebreaker ribbon and Monique Tonna took out the Stirrers Spoon. We also inducted our newest James Nieradka to our club! James completed our Speechcraft course last year. We wish him all the best on his Toastmasters Journey. 07.01.2022 Tonight we had our meeting themed "Lest we forget" We had an array of speeches and many spoke to the theme. David Griffiths who joined us all the way from Dubai started us off on theme speaking about his personal experiences about Anzac Day. Ian Lipski also gave a toast to courageous people on the front line. Alicia Leise also spoke to theme with her Anzac Day 2020 speech which also featured guest trumpet player River who played the The Ode. During the night Elizabeth Wil...son presented an educational on Toastmasters and reminded us why we all joined Toastmasters. We had a live poll after the speeches and the Table Topics ribbon went to Deborah Phillips, Best Speaker went to Christine Huynh, and the Best Evaluator went to Michael Fong. Well Done to all the speakers tonight! Congratulations to Vanessa Francis who was inducted into our club tonight. Welcome Vanessa! We are looking forward to your Toastmasters journey! Thank you everyone who joined us tonight from near and far (we had two visitors from Dubai). We meet again on the 30th April and the theme will be "The Great Debate".

03.01.2022 Tonight, we had our elections for the 2020/2021 year which was run by Gary Wilson. We had a live vote for presidency as there were three members who put their hand up for the role: Sean Leise, Karl Pereira and Sabesh Sitsabesan. It was amazing to see such leadership from our members! Congratulations to Sean Leise who will be the president for the 2020/2021 year. Congratulations also goes out to Rob Tibbertsma (VPE), Vicki Sheehan (VPM), Alicia Leise (VPPR), Andrew Emerson... (Secretary), Suben Subenthiran (Treasurer) and Marko Matic (Sergeant at Arms) who also are also part of the executive for the 2020/2021 year. Tonight, we also had an array of speeches, Deborah Phillips and Michael Said did their icebreakers, Marko Matic encouraged us to be kind, Vivek Signal toasted to the uncertainty we face and Suben Subenthiran spoke about the secrets behind leadership and attaining our goals. Our ribbon winners tonight included Anu Vijayan for Best Table Topic, Best Speaker went to Michael Said and Best Evaluator was Ron Mariott.

01.01.2022 There was change in the air tonight with our meeting Autumn Leaves Ron Marriott changed up our usual table topics with round of table topics that saw duos come up and practice their interview skills. We had a Talk show host Tom MacDonald interview movie star Peter Steinhour. Christine Huynh became a golfer and was interviewed by presenter Udo Moerig. Michael Said became Warren Buffet and was interviewed by Sue Ismiel. Monique Tonna was given the role of a tra...vel expert and was interviewed by Elizabeth Wilson. The last person to be interviewed was Cybersecurity expert Anu Vijayan by Suben Subenthiran. We also had a wonderful night of speeches which also included two toasts! Congratulations again to Vicki Sheehan and Alicia Leise on winning the Area 13 contests and special mention to Rob Marriot who placed second in the Evaluation Contest! A huge congratulations also goes out to Gary and Elizabeth Wilson who will be celebrating their diamond anniversary this month! Tonight Best Table Topics went to Christine Huynh, Best Speech went Wendy Lipski and Best Evaluator went to Alicia Leise. The Stirrers spoon was awarded to Ian Lipski! Thank you to all the members and guests who joined us tonight. A special thanks also goes out to the International Director Region 12 David Templeman, Udo Moerig, and Tanya Wickham.
