25.01.2022 Wow has it been heating up recently! We are definitely feeling summer coming this week! While the weather has been heating up, we still love to spend time with our pet’s outdoors especially in beautiful Hervey Bay, please keep the following in mind to help keep our pets cool this summer! In this hot weather restrict exercise or alternatively, walk early morning or late afternoon. If you have a brachycephalic (short faced) dog, take extra care taking them outside... during the summer as they are at a higher risk of overheating. If the ground is too hot for you it is too hot for them! Place your hand on the ground and hold it there for 10 seconds, if it is too hot for your hand then it is too hot for you dog. If your pet is kept outdoors, ensure they have access to plenty of fresh water and shade Never leave your dog in hot car or a hot room If you want to cool your dog down, avoid using ice but instead spray with cool water If you feel like your dog is experience any heat stress call us ASAP! 24.01.2022 Passionate Paws works alongside the National Desexing Network (NDN) to help reduce the amount of unplanned cat pregnancies in the Wide Bay. NDN provides Wide Bay residents with vouchers to reduce the out-of-pocket cost of desexing. Female cats are only $65 and if you have a second female desexed at the same time they are only $50! Male cats are reduced to $55 with the voucher. If you would like to take advantage of this amazing program, please call the National Desexing Network on 1300 368 992 to organise your voucher to be sent. Call our team on (07) 43095129 if you have any questions and we can book your cat/cats in to be speyed/castrated to not only help reduce the number of cats and kittens in our pounds and rescues, but also to improve the health of your furry family member/s

21.01.2022 This is one of our very talented clients. Her drawings of pets are amazing! You may have seen some of her portraits hanging in the clinic. If you would love to have your pet’s portrait done, contact Adys pet portraits. You won’t be disappointed!

20.01.2022 WE ARE TURNING 1 TODAY!! We would like to thank all of our wonderful clients that have supported us since day one, and helped us find our feet. 20.01.2022 ***UPDATE*** There has been an overwhelming response to these two little boys. Sharon will need time to process all the applicants. NO MORE ENQUIRIES AT THIS ST...AGE PLEASE. We will let you know as soon as we have a confirmed update. It was so wonderful to see our community rally together to spread the word to help this family in their time of need. Heartfelt thanks to all of you! ‘Gimmo’ (grey) and ‘Jimmy’ (white) are two little 9 year old brothers who are in urgent need of a loving home. Tragically, their owner recently passed away and his family can only care for them temporarily. They are not desexed. It is preferred to keep them together. There is a possibility of them being desexed prior to adoption. (To be discussed with their Carer). If you are interested in adopting these two boys, please email Sharon: [email protected] **Please note that ALL enquires are to be directed by email to Sharon. ** Clinic source number: EE102783 Gimmo - 900012000833281 Jimmy - 900012000833164

11.01.2022 Are rawhide chews safe for our pets? Rawhide chews are a popular treat that are given to our pets during the holiday season. You will often find these chews in gift boxes for dogs, for cheap at many local stores and even made into a fun Christmas themed treat. While our dogs do love these treats, they have many hidden nasties: - They can cause blockages if ingested in large quantities - Often are bleached & preserved with many chemicals that can cause stomach upset - Poor q...uality rawhide treats can cause dental issues (fractures) There are many delicious & safe alternatives to rawhide chews such as Greenies, bully sticks, single protein chews, Himalayan big cheese chews and many others. Rawhide chews may be safe to consume in small quantities but always keep an eye on your pet anytime they are enjoying a treat. See more

02.01.2022 This week has been a big week for us. Not only in terms of appointments but also we lost 2 of our favourite patients. Unfortunately, death and grief are some of the ugly parts of this job which nobody enjoys. This weekend spend time with your pets. Take them for a walk, give them a brush, give them a hug, but most importantly take a moment to appreciate and enjoy them. They are never with us long enough
