25.01.2022 The post mid-sem period is always so sneaky. You feel like youre chilling after exams, but suddenly theres 3 assignments due on canvas, the group assignment you got at the start of sem is coming up, and your back starts hurting from sitting down all day =( In times like these maintaining your routine (including attending our helpful PASS sessions ), and getting some exercise and movement in can do bounds for physical health and mental clarity!

23.01.2022 . ( )... ; , . . ... , . We can all be thankful that Saki survived that fateful journey down the mountain, as we now have him facilitating and helping students online in ACCT2011! With the semester becoming more and more chaotic, Saki enjoys facilitating PASS as he gets to revisit an old subject from a fresh academic perspective. We already know that he is a survivor, and sometimes that edge is needed to get through accounting with all its numbers and tables. Well-versed in the ways of the business world, he took this academic knowledge and applied it at BDO Australia as an Audit intern. As a result, he is more than ready to take his combination of university and real world experience to the classroom to share with you all. Saki is a junior facilitator in his third year of a Bachelor of Commerce and Economics, majoring in Business Analytics and Professional Accounting. This is his first year of PASS, but youll be hard-pressed to find someone more suitable to take you through the woes and joys of accounting (apart from the rest of the skilled PASS accounting team of course). Join him at ACCT2011 sessions as you gear up for finals! #KnowYourFacilitator

23.01.2022 Stressing about impending exams? Check out the helpful pack put together by our friends at the University of Sydney Library!

21.01.2022 Now more than ever, finals period offers an UNRIVALLED opportunity to sit down for 11 hours in front of a screen and only move for meals or bathroom breaks. Despite our urge to do so, you will be better served to take some breaks to move your body and get some blood flowing! Whether its a full HIIT workout, strength training, or just a stroll; taking some time to get out of your seat will actually improve memory, alertness, and overall mood. (remember to always keep social distancing regulations in mind <3) Stay safe and study smart! Good luck to everyone going into the finals period.

21.01.2022 Only two weeks left to get the most out of the Under-grad PASS experience! Come along for some final sessions of enhanced learning and exclusive revision content Post-grad PASS has three more weeks You can still register here at:... https://pass.sydney.edu.au/ See more

20.01.2022 While hard to nail down quantitative evidence, music may not be an effective study implement for all situations. As it can affect deep concentration, perhaps put the lofi on hold when completing challenging study materials such as exam revision questions or practice papers However! It can be a useful tool for lower intensity study or to get you into the right mood. On afternoons when you may be feeling a bit demotivated or just cant be bothered to get through that last ...chapter, playing some calming (non-lyrical) tunes can provide just the right vibes to get some work done . What do you like listening to when you study (or just on those lazy afternoons)? Let us know down below! Paper used for reference: Kotsopoulou, A., & Hallam, S. (2010). The perceived impact of playing music while studying: Age and cultural differences.

20.01.2022 Told yourself that this semester would be different? Looking at weeks of unwatched lectures and unstudied content? Don't leave it for stuvac, get a jumpstart on your revision NOW with the last week of PASS sessions for the year! *** See units and session times at pass.sydney.edu.au/

19.01.2022 " ( !), ! 2019 , 2020." Whilst traveling isnt exactly on the agenda right now, ...find Catherine meeting and greeting students in online sessions for BUSS1040! As anyone who attends her sessions will know, she provides a voice of reason and calm even when concepts get challenging and questions become complex. Whilst economics can often become chaotic with lines extending through graphs and markets seeming ever more enigmatic in function, Catherine remains calm and ready to facilitate through each and every concept. If mid-sem study woes are hitting and 1040 is seeming that much harder, join her on Zoom and maximise your learning. Catherine is a senior facilitator in her 3rd year of a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Law and has been facilitating BUSS1040 since the start of 2019. When shes not trudging through hundreds of pages of readings or experimenting with new baking recipes in the kitchen, isolation has afforded time to complete some paintings and dream about the next time she can return to the Grounds of the City for brunch. Join her on Zoom from next week to take your foundational economics learning to the next level. Register at: https://pass.sydney.edu.au

19.01.2022 In the past, weve recommended handwriting your notes, and we stick by that. However, ensure you dont fall into the trap of mindlessly copying what you read on to paper! Especially as many are catching up in this break or preparing for mid-semester exams, ensure your note-taking is done in an effective manner. Try reading short sections at a time, then summarizing what you read and understand before going back to the text. This may take longer, but it is much more effective for recalling the content if needed and comprehending harder concepts. Good luck from the PASS team in your studies! =)

18.01.2022 PASS Revision sessions begin this week as of this morning! Come along for handy study tips and revision resources. See session times at: https://pass.sydney.edu.au/

14.01.2022 ... . . ( ). 2 ; 5 . Whethe...r or not her calligraphy actually looks like a 5 year olds I can neither confirm nor deny, but what is certain is the quality of her PASS sessions as she continues to deliver with her warm personality and rigorous questioning in an online setting. Even having only a few weeks in person last semester before transitioning to Zoom, she is thriving. Kaitlyn was inspired to join the PASS team after seeing the energy and warmth of another facilitator, Steph, in sessions last year. Just as she found PASS an amazing way to get to know and interact with other people in the Law school last year; she aims to provide a seamless experience within her sessions every week. As a junior facilitator in her second year of postgraduate law studies (JD II), she has facilitated LAWS1012 and LAWS5002 since the start of 2020. When she isnt practicing her calligraphy or inhaling the heroic amount of readings in JD II subjects, Kaitlyn dabbles in perfecting her chocolate chip cookie recipe and enjoying Italian food (Maybe in a past life I was Italian). Join her on Zoom in LAWS1012 sessions from next week to take your understanding of torts to the next level! *** Register and find session times at https://pass.sydney.edu.au/ If you are interested in BECOMING a facilitator and joining Kaitlyn and the rest of the team, check out our event at https://www.facebook.com/events/613034259413589

14.01.2022 Time and time again, studying in exam conditions has been proven to be one of the most effective study methods for both exam revision and general learning; forcing you to actively recall key concepts and work through complex concepts. Even if you dont have a wealth of practice papers available, these conditions can be simulated in a number of ways. Try: - Testing yourself on key concepts with actual or virtual flashcards ... - Completing practice/tutorial questions in closed book conditions and with a set time-frame - Asking a friend to quiz you (over Zoom!) with questions you can answer verbally or discuss together As midsems roll by or you gear up for assessments and finals, try practice testing to enrich your learning . 14.01.2022 The facilitator is the one taking the photo, enjoying the discussion about to ensue *** Hope everyone has been eating healthy and studying hard! More study tips incoming as we ramp up to finals =)

13.01.2022 The face you make 2 seconds before opening content from 6 weeks ago ... Join your facilitators next week to revise any content missed throughout semester and get an early boost in exam revision! Looking forward to seeing everyone as Semester 1 begins wraps up

13.01.2022 Despite so many "home" or "COVID" workouts floating around on the internet (some of them being questionable), working out might be the last thing on your mind. However, there are proven benefits to academic study and general mental health from getting your sweat on . Not everyone has access to a home gym facility, but there are plenty of fruitful workouts you can do with just your bodyweight! (as well as many not-so-fruitful ones). How have you all been getting your workou...ts in during quarantine? Let us know in the comments below! 12.01.2022 PASS Facilitator Applications are now open! Find out more on the event page below =)

12.01.2022 As finals approach and assignments start to wrap up, the revision journey to finals may seem insurmountable (especially if youre like me and have more lectures left than you should ) Try separating the lectures you want to watch and questions you want to complete into smaller sections, and spreading these out in a manageable fashion. This way, youll see the work is much more manageable than it seems.

12.01.2022 ANZAC day is a day of remembrance and respect for all Australian and New Zealanders who served and passed away in conflicts for our nations, as well as to pay homage to all contributions given and suffering experienced by those who have served. In trying times its good to look back and commemorate the brave efforts of those who have come before us. Stay strong everyone .

12.01.2022 , ! , , , . ’ , , ’ ! If you haven’t seen her skating through the streets of Sydney, you may have caught Angela facilitating sessions in BUSS5020, FINC5001, OR CLAW 5001! A talented facilitator that’s been with t...he team for 2 years, we’ve heard her PASS sessions are just as vibrant and cruisy as her skating -EMOJI- Prior to her multiple talents being directed towards the Business School, you might be surprised to learn that Angela worked as a physiotherapist in London for over a year before returning to Sydney. She loves the work she gets to do both at the University and in the hospital. No matter how busy her work keeps her however, Angela always dedicates time to sports and outdoor activities. Above all else, they are meaningful and fun ways for her to unwind and connect with nature. Angela is a senior facilitator that just graduated from Masters of Commerce, having facilitated multiple subjects in the last two years. Helping students work through challenging questions has been meaningful and rewarding, and Angela will be looking forward to 2021 with the PASS team so get ready to see her (and her penny board) there! #Knowyourfacilitator

08.01.2022 As a (allegedly former) professional stress eater, I know all too well the temptation offered by convenient and tasty take-aways; especially during times like exam and assignment periods! However, alongside physical activity and sleep, a nutritious base diet is one of the foundations of a positive lifestyle. Not only will you physically feel better, you may find your study improving alongside motivation and concentration! If you're on a budget or tight for time, consider meal prepping. There's a wealth of cheap, healthy and tasty recipes online that can be prepared days in advance or whenever you have the time. Check out this (personal favourite) overnight oat recipe for a quick breakfast or snack to get you started =) https://www.eatingbirdfood.com/protein-overnight-oats/

05.01.2022 And thats a wrap! Congratulations to everyone finishing finals this semester; hopefully everyone is enjoying these first few days of a peaceful break! The PASS team is looking forward to a relaxing (and hopefully productive) winter to recharge, and get ready to deliver an even better academic experience come semester 2 =) (PS enjoy the depictions of the ordered anarchy of a zoom whole team meeting)

03.01.2022 With week 13 now coming to a close, PASS is wrapping up for the first half of 2020! This year the team, as well as our students, have experienced large and numerous disruptions to learning. In the face of this, weve appreciated each and everyone one of you that took the time to come to our sessions and gave us a chance to enhance your learning. Whether you came zealously every week or dropped in for some revision, your contributions to sessions helped create the environment ...of discussion and peer learning that PASS is all about. Without all of you, PASS would not be where we are today. Of course, we also give a big thank you to our facilitators that worked so hard to make the transition to online sessions as seamless as possible! Especially our new facilitators for 2020 that only had a few sessions in person before making the move! We hope everyone moves forward into 2020 safely and smoothly. Good luck to everyone for final assessments and exams and have a wonderful (extra long!) winter break!

01.01.2022 Just a reminder that our PASS Selection Criteria workshop is happening next wednesday at 12pm on Zoom! 01.01.2022 Is it really a final if you cant kick it outside the room right after it finishes and figure out how many marks you and your friends lost ... To those unlucky souls with a saturday exam, were thinking about you! Proper congratulations coming tomorrow when we can all celebrate being officially finished with finals =)

01.01.2022 Whilst UG sessions are sadly coming to an end, post-graduate PASS sessions are running for one more week from the 1st June!
