25.01.2022 I’m outraged! Port Macquarie named as number 9 in top 10 places to visit in 2021! Who are these judges? I may be biased but I believe that the whole of the electorate of Cowper should be named #1. #tourismmidnorthcoast #staymidnorthcoast #holidays #thebeach #thecoast

23.01.2022 It was great to visit South West Rocks today and meet residents for mobile office appointments. My next location for mobile offices is Sawtell on Wednesday 18 November, so please spread the word and if you would like to catch up, call (02) 5507 9555 to register.

22.01.2022 R U OK? Let’s look after each other, not just today, but every day by being mindful of our own mental health and standing ready to support others. Thanks to all of our community groups and businesses who acknowledged R U OK? Day #ruokayday

21.01.2022 Today is National Agriculture Day and I want to thank all our local farmers and farm workers who work hard to put food on our tables. Our country’s ag sector has shown great strength and flexibility this year and I want to see local farming businesses grow and prosper in the years ahead. See our Government’s plan for agriculture at www.agriculture.gov.au/ag-farm-food/ag2030 #NationalAgDay #AgDayAus

21.01.2022 Today our Government announced the creation of 240 new NBN Australia Business Fibre Zones, including one in Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour. This means businesses can access faster, cheaper #nbn internet services. Visit www.nbn.com.au from 28 September to see if your business’ address is in the zone. With Minister for Regional Health, Regional Communications and Local Government Mark Coulton MP and Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts Paul Fletcher.

20.01.2022 Sea turtles are so resilient. Dolphin Marine Conservation Park, EcoGroms and I released two turtles at Diggers Beach this morning. Originally found at Scotts Head, the turtles received six months of rehabilitation at DMCP, supported by our Government’s Communities Environment Program, and are now good to go back into the wild

20.01.2022 Today is National Police Remembrance Day. Thank you to all our past and current serving police officers around the nation. We reflect today to remember all of our colleagues who have died protecting us. It is the ultimate sacrifice. Police Ode As the sun surely sets: dawn will see it arise, for service, above self, demands its own prize. You have fought the good fight: life’s race has been run,... and peace, your reward, for eternity begun. And we that are left, shall never forget, rest in peace friend and colleague, for the sun has now set. We will remember. We will remember. Hasten the dawn. See more

19.01.2022 Saturday’s local rugby derby between the Hastings Valley Vikings and the Port Pirates was more than just a game of rugby: it doubled as a fundraiser for the Make A Difference organisation. Over $10,000 was raised through the auction of the Vikings’ first grade jumpers. Make A Difference are sponsors of the local Orange Sky laundry van and other charitable services. Make A Difference support disadvantaged people living in the community and most recently stepped-in to help with flood relief efforts across the Hastings district. The fund raising from Saturday aims to complete the fit-out of a food and coffee van to expand the Make A Difference service in the community. Congratulations to the Vikings on their support of Make A Difference and their efforts at another fundraiser to help flood impacted residents from the Hastings.

19.01.2022 I have been supporting the Port Macquarie family tragically denied an exemption into Queensland to visit Mark. It’s a terrible story with Mark terminally ill and unable to be visited by his parents and family here. Thanks to the The Ray Hadley Morning Show and Qld LNP Leader Deb Frecklington MP for advocating for this family too. #regionsmatter

16.01.2022 All set for another day of meetings in the mobile office. A beautiful day in Crescent Head!

15.01.2022 Today the Coffs community launched the Coffs says NO to domestic violence campaign. Domestic and family violence is everyone’s business and we as a community say no. Thanks to the Coffs Coast Commitee against Domestic and Family Violence, NSW Police Force, Mid North Coast Health, Dept of Communities and Justice NSW - stronger together and Coffs Harbour City Council for the great campaign. Let’s now all call out any domestic and family violence we as a community say NO. #domesticviolenceprevention #domesticviolenceawareness

13.01.2022 This grant is great news for Revive Lake Cathie, our environment and local high school students who can get involved in water quality testing at Lake Innes Nature Reserve.

12.01.2022 Surf Life Saving Clubs across the Cowper electorate will be able to purchase new or replacement patrol equipment including rescue boards, life jackets, rescue manikins, inflatable rescue boats and first aid equipment and medical supplies thanks to a major injection of funding from the Federal Government. The extra $9.7 million in funding is on top of the $21 million over three years already earmarked for surf clubs across Australia under the Water and Snow Safety Program. #slsa #slsnsw #swimbetweentheflags #funding #surfclubs

11.01.2022 It was great to announce with NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole MP and Gurmesh Singh - MP the start of market interaction for the Coffs bypass today. We want to engage with the local construction market to get shovels in the ground sooner and the bypass delivered to provide 12,000 direct and indirect jobs, should this important infrastructure project gain the necessary planning approval from the NSW Government.

11.01.2022 It's Nursing in the Community Week a chance to thank our region’s 3,000 nurses who are at the forefront of local health care. Thanks @Nambucca Healthcare Centre and Isabella for being involved

09.01.2022 It was an honour to present Macksville’s John Baker with posthumous certificates recognising his mother Elvira Ellsmore’s war service as a telephone operator. Elvira was one of the many unsung heroes who helped keep our shores safe.

09.01.2022 Minister for Regional Health Mark Coulton has given a comprehensive outline on how the COVID-19 vaccine will be rolled out across the Cowper electorate along with its impacts across regional Australia. The vaccine is here, it’s free and it’s safe and I encourage every resident in Cowper to get vaccinated.

08.01.2022 Congratulations St Paul's Catholic Secondary College, Kempsey, for winning an Australian Government national VET award! In 2015, the college expanded its vocational education program and opened a trades skill centre to focus on primary industries, construction and hospitality. The college won the School Pathways to VET award at Friday night's Australian Training Awards - see https://www.australiantrainingawards.gov.au//st-pauls-coll

06.01.2022 Thanks Regional Health Minister Mark Coulton MP for visiting Port Macquarie this week and extending the Rural Health Outreach Fund. It helps over 200,000 rural residents access specialist healthcare each year, so it’s really important to locals.

05.01.2022 The beautiful Coffs Central Shopping Centre tree is now up - just one month to go until Christmas! Buy local to support our small and family businesses who have done an amazing job this year. #golocalfirst #buylocal

05.01.2022 It's always great to see local school students in Canberra, touring Parliament House and learning about how our Government works. This week I was lucky to be joined by students from St Mary's Primary School in Bellingen and Mt St John's Primary School in Dorrigo who were really enjoying their time in chilly Canberra. 05.01.2022 It doesn’t matter if you’re a business, a boss or a member of parliament, you need good people around you. This week in Parliament I thanked my staff for their hard work over a very trying two years. Couldn’t do it without them! #cowper #TheNationals #MichaelMcCormack

02.01.2022 In Parliament on Tuesday I was able to speak about how the COVID-19 vaccination was always going to be an accelerated rollout. The facts tell us that some 4,243,000 people across Australia have been vaccinated, 2,705,000 with Commonwealth vaccine doses. There have been 2,359,000 Commonwealth doses in primary care and 345,000 Commonwealth doses in aged and disability. Fifty-seven per cent of 70-year-old people and 37 per cent of those over the age of 50 have been vaccinated. ...Two months ago, two million people had had their vaccinations. Over the space of the last month, that increased, as per the accelerated rollout of the vaccine, by two million500,000 people a week. The seven-day average last week was 630,000; the week before, 300,000. In my electorate we have numerous Commonwealth aged-care facilities. All residents have received their first doses and all but four facilities have received their second dose. We have a population of close to 30 per cent over the age of 65. I urge all eligible residents to make an appointment for their vaccination for the health and safety of our communities. #cowper #thenats #thenationals #michaelmccormack See more
