17.01.2022 We had the privilege last week in revisiting a past clients home as they were interested in carrying out some minor alterations work. Home was designed by Martin at Grounds Kent Architects and construction was completed in 2002. Their home went on to win Multiple awards the following year at the HIA awards 2003 including the Perth Small Lot Housing, Peter Overman Innovation in Housing, Perth Home of the Year and WA Home of the year. Our client could not have been happier ...in that there had been little to no maintenance required in their home over the previous 16 years and how well the design had stood the test of time. 09.01.2022 I was putting up some past pictures and awards in the office today and came across this certificate which my Father, Nigel Armstrong, managed to keep quiet from us. As of 4 days ago Nigel has been a Registered Building Practitioner in Perth for 35 years. He started up Patton Building and Drafting the same year and then shortened the Company name in 1991 to what we know it as today, Patton Building. 35 years in a long time in any industry and he has managed it as a Sole Operat...or for all that time. In that time it hasnt always been smooth sailing. Working through the implementation of GST which caused and industry wide downturn in 2000 to the more recent industry and economic downturn which has seen massive drop in housing starts in WA which we all hope is coming to an end, to the loss of our mother, his wife of 35 years in January 2017, after a prolonged battle with early-onset Dementia. He has worked through these economic and personal crises over the years and always kept the same honest and upfront approach with his clients to ensure they achieved their homes to suit their needs and to ensure their homes always stood the test of time. We have been extremely lucky as a family as we were able to celebrate his many achievements over the years but the most exciting prospect recently is myself and my brother joining the company after several years working abroad and with other prominent Perth Builders. 08.01.2022 At Patton Building we love having the opportunity of renovating existing family homes, revamping it to make it feel fresh and new again. Especially when the outcome is this good. Recently completed renovation in the Western Suburbs of Perth, included increasing upper floor outdoor entertainment area by adding a new deck, removing half height windows and adding in full height glass windows and doors. Creating access for upper floor outdoor entertainment to ground floor enterta...inment with a custom designed steel stair case with stone infills and removing ground floor lower windows and installing larger windows and sliding doors to increase light to ground floor games and tv room. Full revamp of outdoor areas including new glass balustrade, crazy paving, pool upgrade and screen walls. New and refurbished cabinetry to kitchen and study with extensive use of Tilings Castellated Western Red Cedar throughout the whole home. Bringing together the ideas and visions of the client and architect to construct a home of this quality is the reason we love building. 07.01.2022 Everybody loves a good before and after photo. We were so happy with how this deck replacement came up for our clients in Darlington. They were living with a deck that they werent able to utilise to its full extent due to structural issues with the frame and missing balustrade. Finished up with Recycled Jarrah Decking Boards and Stainless Steel Cable Balustrade to take full advantage of the beautiful views and to achieve outdoor living area they we missing out on. @ Darlington, Western Australia, Australia
