21.01.2022 URGENT ATTENTION ALL CONTACT LENS AND SPECTACLE WEARERS. If we go into lockdown, please be mindful of supply chains. We have had 2 suppliers this week advise of some shortages already. Frames are not an issue. It is lenses.... PLEASE DO NOT PANIC but be mindful of your needs. Contact lens wearers Do you have at least 3 months supply of lenses? Do you have enough solution to clean your lenses? Do you have a pair if glasses as a back up if you get an irritation and have to get your contact lenses out? DO NOT OVERWEAR LENSES. Spectacle wearers...Wear your glasses and sunglasses! This serves as a small barrier for your eyes. It helps you to stop touching your eyes in this current climate. Wash your glasses under a COLD water tap with mild hand soap to keep them clean too. Be very careful what you clean your frames and especially your lenses with, as you do not want to damage the coating on them.(Strong alcohols and heat may be a problem). If you are unsure check with your optical provider. You may wish to carry disposable lens wipes with you(We have Zeiss ones instore if you need them) Do you have a current back up glasses or spare pair should something happen to your glasses?(It will happen, this Monday we had 2 frames chewed by dogs, 3 broken frames, one from a fall and one from an accident and one from handling/care, and 4 we were able to adjust/fix). That was 1 day so it can happen. Contact lens orders... If you wish to order over the phone we can take payment over the phone and we can deliver to you if you wish to limit contact points. We can either deliver by staff to your door or by post. This is a complimentary service. Spectacle orders... If you are an existing client we can reorder exactly the same pair that you had last time by phone. We can take payment and deliver to you by staff to your door or by post. Again this is a complimentary service. Or you can choose a new pair in-store. We are unable to take health fund payments over the phone. We can provide you with a receipt that you can claim back from healthfunds or you would need to pop in store to direct claim healthfunds. We continue to bulk bill examinations which includes an OCT scan if the health of the back of your eye. Thanks stay healthy and well. And thank you to all that support our local small business...21 years in May/June if we can get through this.

20.01.2022 Forest Lake Shopping Centre has no power after a local power outage this morning. We had to evacuate as a precaution as directed by Centre Staff. We are trying to convert the phone system to my mobile number off site as we require power for our data base and phone system to operate. Paul, the staff and I are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.... Kind regards Sharon On a brighter note ....We will call on Monday to reschedule all appointments, and we hope everyone enjoys this magical sunny Saturday. See more

12.01.2022 UPDATE: From Lyn Brodie from Optometry Australia. CEO Lyn Brodie spoke to one of the principal medical Advisers at the Department of Health. The Advisers indicated that in order to limit risk of infection during the COVID-19 pandemic, and not unnecessarily be exposing you(optometrists) or your patients to potential infection, optometrists should now be exercising discretion and limiting themselves to seeing urgent cases. "Optometrists are to use their clinical judgement to determine if appointments can be postponed without undue risk to patient's health and well being."

01.01.2022 Important information....to protect our staff, our clients, the greater community and the families and friends of everyone , we have implemented additional safety measures. At present these include(But may change): 1. Screening of potential visitors/patients to the practice.... 2. All appointments will be asked about their health, and their travels. 3. All visitors/patients will be directed to an area to maintain social distancing and to ensure the area has been cleaned from a previous visit. 4. All visitors/patients will enter through one door only and exit only through the other. 5. All visitors will be treated and asked a series of questions and will have their temperature taken with an infa red non touch thermometer.(temperature must be under 37.5) 6. All visitors/patients will be offered handsitizer on arrival and exit of the practice. 7. When available a mask will be provided/offered to visitors/patients to wear. These are on order(Not yet available). Please note this is just a small additional barrier between staff and visitors..it is not an absolute protection it mainly stops touching of mouths and noses. 8. MEASUREMENTS FOR ALL GLASSES.....Our practice always continues to look for the latest in new advances in equipment. We are able to measure pupil distances, both for single vision lenses and binocular pupil distances for multifocal lenses without contact. We have 2 methods for our dispensing staff. Photos uploaded onto a program taken by camera. And a ZEISS VISUFIT which uses 9 lenses to get accurate measurements WITHOUT CONTACT. We are 1 of 3 practices that I am aware of in QLD with one. 16. Vulnerable visitors and patients please let us know so we can take additional precautions such as additional isolation and the first appointment of the day and minimal contact with staff within the practice. We are doing our best with the information that has been made available to us and with the product that we can source. PLEASE STAY SAFE. Paul, Sharon and the Team.
