25.01.2022 Texta Column Project is a participatory project I created for events that involves themed drawings on wooden structures that can be coloured-in by the public. I create the drawings prior to the event to suit. Previous events include such diverse clients as Writers' Festival for PIAF, Children's Fiesta for City of Fremantle, Governor's House Open Day, Law Week, and the Synergy staff Christmas party. The project allows for small intimate groups or a large number of participants - The biggest being 5000 people counted as participating over 5 days at the Museum of WA. Adults and children alike enjoy the process... and dads have been known to take over the kids' drawings and keep colouring long after the kids have moved on to the next activity!
20.01.2022 Collaboration between Monica Main (script writer), myself (visual artist) and Sohan Ariel Hayes (animator) to work with students from years PP-7 to create a 10 minute stop go animation about multiculturalism. Here's a link to the promo... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34WRpq36a40
07.01.2022 Thanks to a workshop at REmida that introduced me to this concept of how to introduce kids to working with recyclable materials. This project I've started doing with Early Childhood Learning as a continuation from previous junk sculpture projects done with older primary aged kids. It is loosely based on the Reggio Emilia Approach https://www.facebook.com/media/set/
06.01.2022 ARTS IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR. The Arts in Education sector has been developing significantly in Western Australia in recent years, with a push towards artists integrating their program with a cross-curricular approach rather than an isolated activity. In recent residencies my role was to work within the school to provide for curriculum integration, facilitate discussion and develop creative ideas with students, demonstrate skills, support students to take risks in a safe environment, conduct classes using different areas of the environment, work shoulder to shoulder with staff to build their capacity, budget for purchases and enable the school community to achieve curriculum and non-curriculum based learning objectives. Please contact me here if you wish to arrange workshops at your school.
06.01.2022 I need LOTS of those WHITE 1 litre milk bottles for week 2 of the school holidays. Washed, cause they'll stink. Attempting to collect 500
05.01.2022 Kewpie Dolls were manufactured for Carnival prizes in the 1920’s. Australian Kewpie came dressed in tulle, organza and lace tutus with glittered bodice and/or hair, or sometimes naked, always showing her cheeky bare bottom at the back and attached to a bamboo cane. Kewpies were coveted carnival prizes for generations! Lots of Australians remember the kewpie doll from their childhood. So for Perth FringeWorld I decided to have fun with this old side show favourite and set up a Crafternoon to decorate nude Kewpies. Kids, parents and the nostalgic get to dress up their Kewpie with feathers, beads, sequins and glitter. I now do this workshop for other community events. Please contact me for event details.

03.01.2022 Percent for Art Project with WA Department of Finance for Pilbara Institute. The artwork is a decorative fence and gates. The main panels depict the Pilbara landscape with local Mulla Mulla and Sturt Desert Pea. The Corten will rust and the design has an organic flow from panel to panel rather than a repeat pattern. By contrast are the 12 feature disks depicting the work at the Pilbara Institute High Risk Industrial Skills Centre - glossy, colourful and looking like digital design.
