25.01.2022 Home visits are here!! Put a smile on their face with a wag of a tail. PAWS Pet Therapy home visits are just what the doctor ordered. Visit the PAWS website for more details.

23.01.2022 Everybody DOES love Lucy. Especially the students and staff at Newcastle High School. A great first visit - smiles all round.

22.01.2022 From the PAWS Pet Therapy family, to yours. May 2021 bring you love and laughter, waggie tails and goofy smiles. "Happy New Year".

22.01.2022 HUGE thank You to Suzanne Stevenson for her amazing donation of $5,000 to PAWS Pet Therapy. The sale of Suzanne's beautiful book "Dogs On Doorsteps" will sponsor 100 PAWS visits - that's a lot of smiles (or waggie tails!) 21.01.2022 Keep your pets cool Weather is certainly warming up here in Sydney, and the next two days are going to be extremely hot. Now is the time to ensure our ...pets are kept cool and comfortable if we are not at home. Icey kong treats are great for your dog to keep cool and play with on those hot summer days. Consider bringing your pets inside when the weather is too hot to stay outside. Stay safe and hyrdrated everyone!

21.01.2022 Paws Pet Therapy comes to you! Our great teams can now visit people in their own homes. Help your loved one stay connected with a visit from a furry friend and their caring handler. Safe, fun and comforting. Contact us today to organise a visit.

21.01.2022 This is funny every year!

20.01.2022 A very important job for Lucy this week, as she escorted new prep kids to their class for orientation day. Leaving Mum is hard; having a smiley escort with a happy rainbow tail walk with you to class really makes it a little easier. Coast Christian School was the first school to take up our new "Mate at the Gate" program. We're hoping we can support many other kids to have a "fear free", positive start to their school journey.

20.01.2022 Happy, smiling kids at Buxton Playgroup this week. Thanks Dave & Coco. The kids will also get to meet Maria & Annie, and Lyn & Keeper in coming weeks - all part of the PAWS support program for Wollondilly families, generously funded by the Wollondilly Shire Council Mayor's Grant.

17.01.2022 I'm sure we would all agree - 2020 was a crazy year for everyone - fires, floods, a pandemic, uncertainty about work, family, health and the future. PAWS Pet Therapy held its final training and assessment day for the year on Saturday, with a great group of new recruits joining our team, all enthusiastic about starting their PAWS journey. What a great way to finish this crazy year - thank you all for embracing "all things PAWS" and committing to your new volunteering role. 2021 is shaping up to be HUGE!

17.01.2022 New PAWS team Cate & Jada Bug had a lovely visit to the students at ACU accommodation last week. Mainly international students, and heading into Uni exams, they were missing home, their families and their pets, so a hug and a pat with Jada Bug were very much appreciated.

17.01.2022 How time flies.... Two years ago today we welcomed Lana & Archie, and Te're with Lucy, Lizzy and Dolly. In the good old days when we could hold all-day training/assessment days with real human "patients", and up to 12 teams!!!

16.01.2022 The Bargo Public School kids had a special treat this week, an end-of-year visit from Nadia & Bacchi. Cuddles, pats, chats and tricks - a great way to spend the last few days at school. "Merry Christmas" to all the Bargo PS kids, their families and teachers. Stay safe and enjoy your break.

15.01.2022 Great to see the purples back out there. Thanks Jody & Fancy. One happy client.

15.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads, Granddads and Great Granddads. We hope an awesome day was had by all.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Katie & Sadie, Cat & Fisher, Catherine & Murray, and Lauren & Lacey, who all joined the PAWS team last week. Another COVID Safe training and assessment day - thanks to everyone involved. All great new recruits - welcome to the team!

13.01.2022 Why not celebrate International Dogs Day by purchasing a beautiful "Dogs on Doorsteps" book, which will help PAWS Pet Therapy continue to put smiles on faces (definitely needed this year). You can view and purchase Dogs on Doorsteps at https://readyfundgo.com/projects/dogs-on-doorsteps/ or visit www.ssphotography.com.au

13.01.2022 Gorgeous "Rainbow Goldie" Lucy might have met her soul mate today at Margaret Jurd College. Te're & Lucy are looking forward to supporting the students from next week.

12.01.2022 This day, 5 years ago, Lisa responded to an ad for some voluntary admin help at PAWS Pet Therapy. The founder/owner of PAWS was feeling overwhelmed and possibly going a bit mad! Lisa came onboard firstly on a voluntary basis, then as paid staff, as PAWS grew and became more sustainable. Over the past 5 years we have shared many experiences - good and bad, as well as a few tears and a lot of laughs. So grateful for having Lisa by my side, as we navigate new areas and situat...ions, and continue to grow this wonderful charity. Thanks Lisa, here's to the next 5 years!!!

12.01.2022 Early birds Jody & Flynn, and Christina & Pepper Pots, did a great job promoting PAWS Pet Therapy this morning on Sunrise. They enjoyed hanging out with the students in the uni accommodation and chatting to Sam Mac . PAWS teams are looking forward to supporting the students on a regular basis soon.

11.01.2022 A special Australia Day for Craig who enjoyed some 1:1 time with our gorgeous girl Fancy.

07.01.2022 "The look of Love". PAWS dog Aloy loved being back with her Korowal School students this week. Lisa & Aloy helped their young clients prepare for their HSC trials. How could you feel stressed with this gorgeous face smiling at you?

Thanks Dave, Gay and Katie for bringing some real live pooches for the event. After a doggie-themed presentation we had an afternoon of art and craft. 05.01.2022 Whose enjoying the story the most? - Coco!

05.01.2022 Well we got there in the end! Our first training/assessment day since February happened on Sunday. After about a dozen cancellations, changes and revamps, all in the name of COVID, we ended up having a great day. Not even belting rain or being locked out of the loos because of a broken key could dampen the day. Larry was his usual non-compliant self, losing limbs and spinning his head around Exorcist-style during the demonstrations - all the dogs did well showing they were e...ven willing to interact with someone devoid of a face! We welcomed 5 new teams, who all attended on a 1:1 basis - all good sports, and all embraced our training and showed they were keen to start their PAWS career. Congratulations Ally & Harvey; Maryanne & Ewan McGregor, Jessica & Albus; Kym & Larry; and Audrey & Molly. Our next training/assessment day is on Friday!

04.01.2022 We sound like an active bunch here at PAWS - with "flying by the seat of our pants" and "winging it" now part of every day at the office. Constantly reinventing ourselves and adapting our service to the ever-changing COVID conditions, we have also completely overhauled our training process. Big thanks to new team Diann & Benji who, with good humour, took part in our new 1:1 office based training last week. ... Between Larry's arm regularly detaching, and demo-dog Hudson refusing to "2-paws" on the ridiculously low bed, we managed to get through the assessment, not without a few laughs. Diann & Benji passed with flying colours, Hudson enjoyed a snuggle-up with Larry, and all limbs were reattached, so all-in-all a good day.

04.01.2022 Congrats to PAWS team Te're & Lucy, who have been invited back for visits in 2021 by the students and staff of Margaret Jurd College. Love your work girls!

01.01.2022 The blog below is usually buried amongst a heap of information and pictures on the front page of our website. Today, on "International Dog Day", we want to shout it out - we are immensely proud of our wonderful dogs and the amazing work they do. Their wellbeing is our #1 priority, and we love them. "Our dogs are everything at PAWS. They are our friends, our colleagues, a shoulder to cry on and a warm body to snuggle up to. We love them and they love us. What an honour it is t...o share these wonderful beings with so many others. How proud are we when we see them bring smiles to faces of people unwell and unsure of their future? When we witness a new sense of confidence in children? When we see a wonderful friendship develop with those who are lonely? PAWS dogs are true professionals. They know they have an important job to do and they pride themselves in doing it well. When the PAWS vest appears, they are excited knowing they will bring joy and love to so many special people during their visit. PAWS dogs DO love their work, but we never underestimate the effect it can have on them. They start their day with a wash, a clip as needed and a brush, then on goes the PAWS vest, collar and lead. A trip in the car to an unknown destination, meeting many new faces in an unfamiliar environment, with a range of smells and noises. But then the fun startsmeeting people.up and down on beds, wheelchairs and chairs, being patted, cuddled, cried on and read to. Our dogs take it all in their stride, but we are always there to support them, to advocate for them and to protect them. They give so much of themselves, and take on so much the emotions, fears, anxieties and moods of the people they meet patients, their families and staff. So we need to protect our dogs and keep them fresh and happy in their work. The PAWS course teaches us all to listen to our dogs, to be guided by their amazing intuition, and to respect and support them in their workplace. Being aware of our dog’s energy levels, of their likes and dislikes, physical limitations and special skills, ensures we support our dogs to deliver the highest level of professional service, while keeping everyone safe. Understanding the causes, symptoms and prevention of stress and fatigue in therapy dogs underpins the entire PAWS course, and ensures these wonderful 4-legged therapists thrive in their work, enjoy their special moments and are recognised and rewarded for the profound difference they make. To our 345 PAWS dogs thank you. X

01.01.2022 Kym & Larry delighted the kids at Kinder Lane Early Learning Centre again yesterday. Look at how great these kids are at patiently waiting and taking turns. Keeping everyone safe and having fun - that's what it's all about!
