25.01.2022 Anyone else struggling to stay motivated to keep moving during iso2.0? Heres a few little things I am trying to remind myself to keep me going... - Stay kind to yourself This storm we are all in is proving to create a lot more challenges then most of us are use to, its a hard time for so many, remind yourself you are doing the best you can - Remind yourself of why its good for you to get some fresh air, for the mind, for the body, for the soul (and good for the... doggies or kiddies) - Im trying to dedicate 30min a day to ME to move. Get some YOU time weather its stretching, strengthening, walking, riding, running, do what makes you happy and remind yourself of how amazing it feels afterwards for me it decreases my stress and anxiety an enormous amount - I have continued to remind myself to eat well, if Im not fuelling the body with good nutrients, then I cant expect it to feel amazing right? Give it a go #allinmoderation - Plan your weekly exercise or activities, anyone else here a list person? I dont know about you but I feel If I write things down I want to do then once I have completed it crossing it off is such a great feeling but stay real, dont put to much pressure on yourself, keep the list simple . Sending huge virtual hugs to all Please reach out if you want some exercises or stretching to do at home, Im here to help if you need . Em xo See more

21.01.2022 In these uncertain times while we are all in unfamiliar territory, Im finding its a great time to tune back into my body and assess what it needs or deserves. Ive been doing a lot more stretching and movement based work to open everything up again. Lets just say my couch at home isnt the best for my posture, and laying on my yoga mat right now whilst writing this isnt so great either . You might have found your local Myotherapist or Remedial Massage therapist is... not currently available in their clinic however I am available through other forms of communication! I am here for you, whether it be a few tips and tricks to loosen off you back, or you might be suffering from some headaches, I have some great exercises and self treatment ideas I can send to you. . So please dont let your body suffer more then it has to at this time. I am here to help you, new and existing clients . We are in this together. Stay safe, stay well, reach out to your loved ones. . Em xo . 21.01.2022 Hello clients, I just wanted to send out a friendly reminder to you all to PLEASE think of the following questions before you come into the clinic or book an appointment: . - Have you come back from overseas in the last 2 weeks? - Have you visited anyone who has been travelling? - Have you been in contact with anyone who has tested positive to Covid19 or are awaiting results?... - Have you been tested and are you waiting for results? - Do you have any flu like symptoms including dry cough, fever, sore throat or tiredness? . *** If you answered YES to any of the above Qs please reschedule your appointment with me for a later date and follow the guideline of your GP and stay well. . Unfortunately the virus is still around and will be for a while so I need to make sure I am keeping myself, my family and my clients all as safe as possible while making sure I can still tend to their treatment needs as needed. . Be kind, be thoughtful, be respectful of those around you. If you have an appointment with me, since last Monday I have been wearing a mask, as it has been recommended for all Health Professionals in VIC to do so, so that is what Im doing. I am such a smiler and its how I let out my good vibes, so if I am seeing you soon, ...dont worry the vibes are still there, just a little more muffled and protected at this time . 19.01.2022 Thanks for the nomination mobility queen @obyrnemyotherapy. Ive been asked to answer 10 Qs about myself as a Myotherapist to help my clients get to know me 1. What is your profession? Myotherapist / Pilates and Barre Instructor 2. When did you graduate? 2013... 3. Where did you study? RMIT University 4. When did you start working in a clinic/open your own business? Remedial Massage Therapist end of 2012 and continued once I graduated as a Myotherapist. I opened Payne Therapies end of 2015 5. How many clinics have you worked at? 3 6. What was your favourite placement during studying that you did? The Australian College of Basketball and after I graduated I was extremely lucky to get myself 1 of 2 spots up at the AIS Canberra for a 2 week Internship working with some of the worlds best athletes, and soft Tissue Therapists. 7. What is your favourite skill you have learnt? Being able to assess and treat where the issue is actually coming from, not necessarily where the pain is presenting, with use of soft tissue treatments and exercise 8. What do you want to learn in the future? I want to keep learning new techniques and ways to encourage movement to decrease pain. 9. What is your favourite thing about your job? It would have to be the people, I know it sounds cliche but I have met so many amazing people along my journey so far, professionals and incredible clients. To be able to help them achieve their goals, become pain free or be able to move more freely is such a great feeling. 10. What is your speciality or favourite area to work on? Ohh this is hard as I love treating all types, from office workers to those getting back into exercise! However working with the @geelongcats and the @beckworthracing team its taken me down the path of athletes & elite sportsman. Along with this, I love treating pre & post natal clients too, being a part of their journey is so special. . I nominate the ever so inspiring and good friend of mine Mel @betterhealthmyotherapy and the lovely Amanda @amandakovacevmyo to answer the above 10questions . Ive attached a few pictures of where I get to share my passion for health and wellbeing See more

19.01.2022 Are you doing any virtual classes at the moment? Do they involve planks? If so dont forget about my favorite 3 options for a plank! 1. High plank (softened elbows) 2. Forarm plank... 3. Plank on kees Remember to chose what feels most comfortable for you! If your wrists get sore in high plank, come down to forarm plank, if you start to feel it too much in your lower back draw your belly in to spine, squeeze the glutes on and if that doesnt help lower to your knees. Just remember while on your knees, rock those hips forward towards the ground to create that nice long line from your head down to your hips. Happy Planking . . . #plank #suggestions #alterations #listentoyourbody #abdominalstrength See more

18.01.2022 Hey guys, unfortunately at this stage I am unable to take on any NEW Myotherapy/Remedial Massage clients. The clinic is currently booked out until Christmas, including the extra 20hrs I opened up before the end of the year, therefore from now on I can only put my current clients on the waitlist. I am so sorry for the inconvenience, this is an incredibly hard decision to make, especially for someone who doesn't like to say "no". Please get in contact with me if you ...need an appointment and I can give you the details of other local therapists. Hopefully this will just be a short term decision, so please keep an eye out on my social media platforms for future details . . *To anyone with vouchers and all the clients currently on my waitlist, I will do what I can to get you in over the next 6weeks. . #keepstretching #myotherapy #remedialmassage #pregnancymyotherapy #bookedup #heretohelp #geelongbusiness See more

17.01.2022 Increased work hours? Working from home? Im finding many clients are currently suffering from back pain due to change in work conditions. This is one of my favorite exercises to do which gently stretches out the segments of the spine especially in the upper body and neck. ... All you need to do is 1. Have a foam roller 2. Lay down onto it so its along your spine, hips on bottom section and head resting up the top. 3. Relax arms out to the side (gentle stretch through front of shoulders *pecs) Image 2. If you have a short foam roller, place a few pillows under the hips and use roller for upper half of the back. HOLD THIS POSITION FOR 10MIN AT THE END OF A LONG DAY Ill have plenty more of these exercises to share over the coming days/weeks, stay tuned, stay safe. . . . #spinestretch #decompress #calming #stretching #youtime #heretohelp

16.01.2022 A huge shout out to @wonderyoga.au for allowing me to teach virtual Barre classes for the last 8weeks. So grateful for their support over this challenging time. Lucky for chairs as our "support" but Im looking forward to getting back to the Barre with our beautiful students What a challenge it has been teaching virtually for anywhere between 12-28 clients a class, as much as I have loved the experience and the challenge I cant wait to see all of your smiley faces again ...especially when we say the words "and now hold for pulses" ... if all goes to plan, bring on 22nd June You can still join me virtually over the next few weeks Thursdays 7.30am for Wonder Barre Online . . . #barre #wonderbarre #wonderyoga #grateful #passion #move #geelonglocalbusiness See more

15.01.2022 Hip Flexor Stretch Have you found yourself sitting a lot more then normal lately? You might find you need to stretch out the front of your hips Reason being these tend to tighten up with prolonged sitting which can then lead to many other issues, lower back pain being one of them. How do you do it? -tuck the pelvis under (some people like to squeeze glutes on to help) before you lunge forward - Hold for 1-2min ... - Add the side stretch (2nd image) to intensify it a little more ***Please if you have any questions get in contact with me! . . . #stretching #advice #heretohelp #hipflexor #toomuchsitting See more

15.01.2022 This is me doing what I love. I love to move, I love to educate, I love to challenge, I love to inspire,... I love to encourage, and most of all I love to do personal practise. . My movement is not perfect, but I have been practising for over 14 years now, moving with the guidance of Pilates. . . Over these last few months I have fallen into a world of online teaching, and I am so grateful for the time it has given me to perfect my own practise. . As many of you know I am such a tactile teacher, I like to ensure alignment and precision is reached at a high level for all of my Pilates and Barre students, this initially was a hard concept for me to let go of and to teach in a way that does not allow that. However, through education and words its allowed me to somewhat achieve that virtually. . Its important to not fall back into old unwanted habits, keep moving, stay true to yourself and enjoy the process as our lives begin to get busier again, dont leave what you truly love behind. . What have you loved doing over the last few months? . . . #grateful #keepmoving #checkinwithyourself #checkinwithyourlovedones #takethepositives #embracethechange See more

14.01.2022 Pec stretch: Great for opening up through the front of the body. If youre spending a lot of your day on a computer, cleaning, cooking, video games, riding a bike etc... then most of your movements are all forward movements with your arms. This is a great stretch to open it back up the other way, especially at the end of the day ... * - find an edge of something maybe a door or a window and gently step forward to feel the stretch. -hold 30+sec twice on both sides (Feel free to play around with the height of your hand and elbow, and feel other areas of the chest stretch out too) . . . #stretches #advice #flexibility #hereforyou #whatdoyouwanttoknow

08.01.2022 Hey guys, just wanted to check in and explain where the business is at currently with its bookings. . At this stage my bookings at @claridgenaturopathics are pretty filled up. We are currently looking at August 28th for next 1hr appt and only a couple of 30min spots left between now and then. 06.01.2022 Change up your surfaces . Ive had many clients lately including myself who are coming in with tight calves, shins, sore feet, pain in the knees etc. I am finding this is common due to an increase load in running/walking which is generally taking place on the most convenient surface being a road or concrete footpath. As much as this is great from a "doing more exercise" side of things its not so great in terms of the "im getting pain" side of it. So... aft...er having a great chat to expert Podiatrist Amy from @stancepodiatry we both 100% agree that changing up your running/walking surfaces can be a fabulous way to try stay injury free . Heres a few tips & reasons why changing it up is a good idea, from the foot guru herself Engages different foot and leg muscles which will lead to physical benefits..and a different scenery is also good for your mind. Try find soft surfaces to run on at least 1-2 x wk, it may be sand, grass or a trail. This will keep the impact stresses of running down and allow you to recover from your workouts faster. Running on a softer surface allows you to use the smaller stabilising muscles in your feet that you may not use if youre running all your kms on a hard surface. . Keep your muscles and your joints happy . Happy running / walking See more

My sister is doing 100 kettle bell swings a day for 100 days so Im planning on starting that but maybe every second day to give myself ...some recovery time Dont forget to give yourself small goals to help you achieve those larger long term goals . . . #goals #findamate #stickingtoit #smallsuccesses #longtermgoals #motivation See more

06.01.2022 Happy International Pilates day I thought I would share with you a little bit about my personal journey as to why I became a Pilates Instructor. Back when I was 13 years old my Osteopath suggested I start doing Pilates. Back then I was a competitive Race Walkerand I was starting to get little unwanted niggles that I soon learnt could be reduced with the help of regular Pilates practise. So I started attending 2x Pilates classes a week (classes designed for me specifica...lly) and focused on my strength, stability, control and flexibility and before I knew it I was training and racing more efficiently with little to no pain and I have continued to practise Pilates ever since. After completing my Myotherapy studies at @rmituniversity in 2013 I became an Xtend Barre instructor in 2014 and then over the following years completed my Mat Work, Reformer and Pilates Apparatus studies through @studio_pilates and with the help of an amazing Mentor, Wendy from @inspiredbypilates I was able to take my knowledge, confidence and passion for teaching to a whole new level. I do what I do because I love to help others achieve their own personal goals, just like Pilates did for me . Thanks to @ib_pilates_lara , @wonderyoga.au and the @mindfulmovementhub for allowing me to teach what I love and share my passion for Pilates with those who attend your beautiful studios . . . #internationalpilatesday #grateful See more

04.01.2022 Walking - Improves mood and energy - Just 22min a day gives you over 150min a week which is what the Australian Physical Guidelines suggest as a minimum to transform your health. - Puts less stress on your body then running (great form of active recovery) - It's free and requires no specific equipment (you can even walk barefoot on the beach so no shoes are technically required )... - Improves flexibility / aerobic fitness and estimated lifespan. - Reduces risk of heart disease The point is that walking has so many amazing benefits which can affect the human body mentally, physically and emotionally. Not everyone is a runner, and that's ok! But now is the perfect time to try and change some unhealthy habbits especially with the weather bringing us some nicer days On a side note if you can't walk due to other underlying factors, try Swimming, Meditation, Pilates, Yoga, there is something out there for everyone. Embrace the way your body can move and reap the health benefits. Make some time for YOU Happy Monday! See more

01.01.2022 Myotherapy, what exactly is it . The assessment, treatment and management of musculoskeletal conditions, which may cause muscular dysfunction and pain thus affecting movement and mobility . While utilising a variety of treatment techniques, these help to restore and maintain the normal integrity of soft tissue structures (muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia). Myotherapists look for Trigger points within the muscles which may be the cause of deep aching, tender po...ints or referral pain which can be limiting strength and flexibility. . We use the magic of touch (Palpation) to identify these potential dysfuctional points while using Dry Needling where needed to relax and reduce muscle pain and tension. Muscular dysfunction can be caused by trauma, overload or misuse of muscles arising from occupational, sporting or recreational activities. . A typical consultation will start off with history taking, followed by any relevant assessment/testing of muscle mobility and strength. . Our aim is to seek out the cause of the pain and combine different hands on techniques to treat the condition. . If you have any further questions please get in contact with me :) You can find me at @claridgenaturopathics Wed/Fri afternoon. Please call Claridge on 52218220 or SMS Emily on 0431013078 for bookings, next available appt Friday October 2nd. . #myotherapy #assessment #treatment #triggerpoints #mobility #movement #dryneedling #passion #magicoftouch #heretohelp See more
