20.01.2022 Roderick via Frank All. Sat.29.2.20 & Sun.1.3.20 My photos and my sentiments will echo others: The organisation, the scale, the variety, the weather, the frien...dship. This was my third. Events conspired to prevent my bringing Jessie II or my Bolger rooftopper, and cut my time. I was helped by many people. It was good catching up not only with Paynesville people, but with people and boats from rallies elsewhere, attracted by PCBR's growing reputation and by the fame of the Gippsland Lakes. I met lots of first timers on these waters. Where to start? I like the Quick and Dirty contest, here and elsewhere. It is always amazing seeing the variety which can be achieved from a set kit. There were only four teams: * Paynesville Primary School, with a trimaran suitable only for very young children to fit in. * Yacht Club juniors, with a catamaran which won the race. With light riders, it sat high and had a speed advantage. * Sea Scouts double-ended canoe. IIRC this one had little freeboard, took on water, and finished submerged. * Sea Scouts Venturer Section stylish single-ended canoe. As a former VL, I had a soft spot for this one. I had met the designers/builders/crew 2 years ago when they were in the scout section. This one had minimum adult intervention. I was impressed by the fitting of a chine, something which I have not seen on designs at many rallies. However, the penalty of crewing with two husky bodies was sitting low in the water and bogging down. Despite minimum freeboard, it didn't take water. The duo came in second. It was also good to see two entries from 2018 there, still intact. I think that one raised a crew, and raced again. At a similar Goolwa contest, Griff Rhys-Jones (Two/Three/Ten/Twenty Men in a Tinnie) was a contestant with a colleague. IIRC his boat submerged completely, and was carried to the finish line.

13.01.2022 Our very own Crew Leader Zoe who was awarded The Young Citizen of the Year Award for Paynesville. She was awarded this because of her outstanding work within not only the scouting community but also the general community. Zoe is a wonderful example of what a Rover Scout should be. Congratulations once again and keep up the great work you do.

10.01.2022 COVID-19 has been tough on everyone, especially for those at the Royal Children's Hospital. It may be a while until the Good Friday Appeal but why wait! To help raise money for the Good Friday Appeal, the members of the Jack Furhman Rover Unit are doing a walkathon. Every Monday night we will post our week's progress with a link to our donation page for you to donate or share among your friends. Please help us help them.... https://gf.me/u/y6bn6y

09.01.2022 So we have successfully finished week 1 of our walkathon. Like all first weeks it did not go without its fair share of technical glitches. But we made it.
