09.01.2022 In these unprecedented times we know that organisations may be required to deliver their services differently because of COVID 19 restrictions because the volunteer workforce has been impacted and local communities may have many more vulnerable people requiring assistance. For these reasons the Queensland Government has called for everyday Queenslanders to join the Care Army. Care Army volunteers have a broad range of skills to undertake many different roles. They can help w...ith: Delivering services doing the work of volunteers who have had to stop volunteering recently; delivering groceries, medicines and essential items; driving older people to appointments; making phone or video calls and mowing lawns Helping with operations - administrative work; assisting with technology Participating in committees and working groups As discussed, this may be a good opportunity for PCCC to explore the possibility of engaging volunteers. I have attached some information sheets so you can learn more about the Care Army; if you’re keen to get the ball rolling, I suggest getting connected with Volunteers Queensland to request support.
