Perhaps youre a member of our Bondi and Maroubra studios or train with us online - in which case youll be accustomed to Lauras killer classes and love of Beyonc. Or maybe youre a Cronulla Peach - training with our queen Kat in the Shire - seeing her community grow with love as we approach the 12 month mark since she opened her studio! . What you might... not know is that both Kat and Lau were the original members of @toriclapham s very first studio in Bondi - a space that we now refer to as the shoe box and we thankfully grew out of. Its been such a beautiful thing to watch the organic journey of our members and clients becoming instructors - every team member of Peaches started this way, and we like to think that the love, respect and down right passion we have for each other has led to our team expanding and flourishing in the way it has. Today is #ruokday and were huge supporters of this movement for obvious reasons: It normalises discussing mental health It acknowledges the fact that not all days are great It creates an opportunity for people who otherwise might not have felt comfortable to broach the subject of either not feeling ok or offering support to a loved one .... With the blessings of social media, zoom calls and DMs, in many ways weve never been more connected - yet sometimes this can lead to a great disparity between actually catching up and hitting like on a comment. Today, wed like to offer some suggestions for ways you can check in on someone you love. Theres no right or wrong way to show someone you care, but methods weve used in the past are: Being direct - if someone has experienced a loss or a hardship, sometimes when people dance around the issue or get uncomfortable, it can make things worse. Its ok to acknowledge an issue directly if you feel the time is right. Being present - spending time with those you love will help to create the opportunity for discussions - make yourself available. Listen without offering advice. Sometimes, its just nice to be heard. Statistics and success stories can be inspiring, but often an open ear and a Fuck that really sucks, Im sorry is all thats needed. .
