16.01.2022 Who doesn’t love Eric Carle’s ‘The very hungry caterpillar’? It is such a fun book with an expected recurring phrase ‘but he was still hungry!’, which is very catchy for children to spill out naturally. You can also make story reading more fun by providing them with matching pictures that are from the book. This makes story time much more interactive and stimulating when they use their hands to choose and place the cards to develop and progress with their language skills. From matching the pictures with what’s in the book to forming phrases and sentences, they can also get imaginative and create their own story with the cards.

07.01.2022 Do you sometimes feel that your child doesn’t respond to your questions, or they answered the question inappropriately? Maybe it’s because the question requires them to use too much effort to first, hear out the words in your question, process each word meaning, decide what they want or need and finally to find the right words to use. Perhaps you could make the whole process a bit easier for them and lower the cognitive loading needed. Choice questions are the easiest to process, as you have already presented the words for them so they just have to pick one out of the two words you have said. Have a go!
