25.01.2022 Three tips to remember when keeping your log book valid. 1: Rounding the time travelled is not accepted by VicRoads, so 12 minutes should be entered as 12 minutes, not 15. 2: Every short trip counts. 6 x ten minute trips = 1 hr toward your 120+ hour goal.... 3: Log at least 130 hours. VicRoads might exclude a couple of entries they deem not valid. PS. Remember to scan your log book pages regularly, so you have back up entries if you lose the book.

14.01.2022 Locking your car in summer... (According to vicroad law) - If you're more than 3 away from the car, the doors must be locked and - You can have your windows open no more than 2 centimeters (20 mm) and ... - A child under the age of 16, cannot be left in the car. ...... It might make it difficult to fill the car up at the petrol station the next time you have young passengers when you go inside to pay. We might hope an exception can be made when logic kicks in. However, if you were to take too long and shop in the station too; especially on a hot day.. remember the car is heating up inside. I suggest go to the petrol station after you've dropped the kids off at school, kinder or with family. It's up to us to be thinking drivers at all times!

08.01.2022 For those wondering... The rumor of the learner log book hours increasing from 120 to 240 in Victoria has not been validated by VicRoads as confirmed by the ADTA (Vic). For now it remains 120 hours.
07.01.2022 VicRoads Registration labels are being abolished as at 1/1/2014. That means you don't need to display them on your car or motorbike. Great news! If you have a motorbike and there's not a lot of places to put the label (as is the case on my Honda). My rego is due in January, and I'm happy to free the bike from the registration label. So the question is: My Manual Hyundai is due for Registration this month (Dec). On the 1st of Jan 2014, do I have to display the label? The ...answer can be found on the VicRoads website at http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au//DiscontinuationOfRegistrat The Answer: In summary, after you scroll down to about the 3rd last comment... [quote] "What happens if my registration expires on 31 December 2013? Do I take my sticker off on 1 January 2014? As from 1 January 2014 there will be no requirement to display a sticker. You will be able to take the existing sticker off." [end quote] So, I'm taking my sticker off on the 1st January 2014. You can too, even if you've just purchased your car. :)
