24.01.2022 THE STOMACH IS NOT FLAT Research shows the connective tissue (linea alba) that connects the two sides of our stomach muscles together is actually OVAL in shap...e, however social media has possibly lead to the belief that a flat stomach should be normal. To achieve these aesthetics; ladies will often suck in their tummy (sometimes not consciously) which can negatively impact respiratory and pelvic floor function and stomach separation rehabilitation. That's right ladies.....LET GO of clenching those stomach muscles and regain optimal function your pelvic floor and stomach separation will thank you

13.01.2022 There is a common misbelief that running is bad for your knees and may increase your risk of osteoarthritis (OA). And if you already have OA you should stay awa...y from jogging all together. But is this true? In fact, research tells us that it is really important to be active and that running per se does not increase our risk of developing symptoms in our joints related to OA. Check out this #ABCHealthReport podcast that explores new research being conducted in Australia and the UK. #mythbusting #keepmoving #choosephysio See more

12.01.2022 If you are a woman or you train women you need to read this article from my friend Michelle Wright who is doing a great job educating the fitness industry that women are not little men and considerations need to be made for the changes we go through during life

10.01.2022 A new study from Curtin University has indicated that, contrary to popular belief, lifting with a straight back is no safer than lifting with a rounded one. APA... Occupational Health group chair Dave Hall agrees, stating that while there will be some instances where keeping the back straight is helpful, the focus on this has distracted us from more important factors in injury prevention in the workplace, including: - Lifting is often able to be avoided or minimised through smart work practice - Risk assessing the tasks as a team helps you come up with safer and more efficient ways to do things - Using "higher level" controls such as trolleys, lifting machines, etc helps to reduce strain on the back - When lifting something focus on keeping the load close to the body and using the legs for power - Always be willing to say no and/or ask for help when doing manual handling - Never rush tasks, think safety all the time - Warm up before work, stretch regularly, think of yourself as an ‘industrial athlete’ and treat your body as your number one tool And finally, if you do have doubts or niggles, see a #physio before they get worse. #choosephysio

04.01.2022 https://australian.physio//no-place-spinal-manipulation-in It is so important to remember that babies aren't "mini adults", they do need special care and attention when receiving treatment

03.01.2022 In response to the COVID19 pandemic, telehealth has now been introduced to our practice We believe this is an excellent alternative to face to face consultations particularly for the babies and children we see, and for follow up visits for pelvic floor physiotherapy The program used is recommended by the APA, our professional organization, and has end to end encryption ensuring security and privacy Please call or email to discuss how we can use Telehealth to provide Physiotherapy care for you

02.01.2022 Did you know that how you think about your pain can change the way it feels? And, the amount of pain you experience doesn’t accurately measure tissue health or ...necessarily equate to ‘damage’. Pain however is a mechanism produced by our bodies for protection. In this #podcast, APA honoured member and Pain Scientist, Lorimer Moseley, and APA’s Chair of Pain Group, Dianne Wilson, discuss pain research over the past 50 years and their predictions for physiotherapy and pain science in the 20 years to come. Big thank you to our proud sponsors, @FlexEzePageAustralia's number one heat wrap, for their support in producing this episode in the Talking Physio series. #painrevolution #choosephysio
