22.01.2022 With under a month to go to the Organic & Sustainable Living Festival its time to set the date in your diary and get ready to come along to this fantastic event. The festival is a one day celebration of sustainable living, drawing large crowds to the workshops, guest speakers and exhibits, and is set in the idyllic grounds of the Penguin Sustainable Living Centre. The festival has strong ties with its organic roots, having been the showcase for organic growing, local produce ...and sustainably produced food for many years. But, that is only half of the story and part of the festival focus. The festival will also have exhibitors with information, products and services to help people live a more sustainable lifestyle. Our theme in 2012 is it starts @ home, and we will have a programme of guest speakers and workshops reflecting that theme from home preserving to saving seed, or energy saving to preserving our planet, it all starts at home! Speakers include Tino Carnevale; Sally Wise and Linda Cockburn. There will also be childrens entertainment, music, rare breeds, workshops and demonstrations.

20.01.2022 Welcome Home and nice work Damian Hingston, treasured volunteer of ours, and SES officer who has spent the last 10 days amidst the unnerving aftershocks, helping the Christchurch folks get their lives back into some semblance of normality. We salute you!

19.01.2022 Did everyone in the North West spot the mining exploration applications in the Advocate last week - the whole of the Dial Range is a part of it, as well as other sites around the region. Is nowhere too special to allow mineral extraction?? Objections must be in by early April, and they have slapped a $30 fee on objections (can that possibly be legal?), I say: "I object!"
