25.01.2022 The is shining! Dont forget our playgroup Pop Up play today at Hiscutt Park from 10am until 12pm. Free to attend.

25.01.2022 Great news! The libraries have set up a click and collect service, so we can order books on line https://www.libraries.tas.gov.au/Pages/Home.aspx

23.01.2022 Kims Game! Can you spot what is missing? This is a great game to encourage good looking and attention skills. And so easy to set up at home with whatever is to hand. Lots of possibilities for language and learning too: What colours are there? What shapes are there? How many items are there? What goes together? How many ways are there to make groups of items?... Are there any items starting with s or p, or other sounds? Can you clap the syllables in the words, or make up rhymes for them? See more

23.01.2022 We will be open tomorrow, 10-12. But wrap up warm as it will be windy. $3 per family, see you there! We will be open tomorrow, 10-12. But wrap up warm as it will be windy. $3 per family, see you there!

23.01.2022 Looking for something to do tomorrow? Tell a friend to come too. We are popping up again TOMORROW! Come for a play! Hiscutt Park, Penguin - 10am until 12pm. Turn up anytime during this time, to meet new friends. It is free to attend. But with the Covid restrictions, there are some important rules we need you to be aware of. ... Our session is free. Yay! We have missed seeing everyone, and our little people have missed playing. We will be using the existing play ground as our spot to play. We wont be bringing anything, other than a mat to sit on, as it gets very tricky for us to keep things safe. So yes, it is a playgroup play, but not the way it usually is. We need everyone to use our sign in book on arrival to the playground, and to use hand sanitiser when you arrive. Adults we need to make sure we are appropriately socially distancing. We are unable to offer coffee or our fabulous biscuit jar. So grab one on the way! Its important that the children also do not share any food. So pack your own snacks and keep an eye on any little seagulls. Please do not attend our session if you or your children are unwell. Even a common cold. If you are showing any cold like symptoms, we will have to ask you to leave. To attend you must be a Play Group Tasmania member. It is currently FREE to sign up and only takes a minute online. https://playgrouptas.org.au/join-playgroup-tas/ We encourage you to have the Covid Safe app running on your phone. If you have never been to Penguin Play Group before, you are very welcome to come to our Pop Up Session! We welcome new faces, and this is a perfect casual opportunity to meet the families that regularly attend. The weather also looks fabulous! The rules are long, but we hope the fun can still be had!

22.01.2022 Coffee? Does anyone know of a coffee van that would like to visit us on Monday for our Pop Up Playgroup at the Sulphur Creek playground? We are so excited for a chance for little people to play again, and there will no doubt be a good handful of parents happy to purchase a cuppa! Any ideas?

22.01.2022 Pop Up Play tomorrow! Blythe Heads playground, Sice Avenue Heybridge. 10am until 12pm. We are loving this great weather and the opportunity to catch up in different locations. Our committee hadnt heard of this little spot before. So come and explore with us. Its on the beach side of Heybridge. Message us if the map doesnt help. The whole point of Playgroup is for children to meet other children and their parent/carer to meet other adults. Thats what we are all about. ... Bring the kids gumboots, as depending on the tide, we might explore the beach. Our session is free, as we are all about meeting safely at the moment (instead of in our cosy centre). Tag a person with little people at home. Let them know we exist! Please only visit if you and your children are well.

22.01.2022 Ever wondered if you could spot a planet or two now the days are short? Maybe your little ones might like to know where rockets are, or want to wish on a shooting star? This is one of many free apps that make star gazing so easy! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details

15.01.2022 Its a great time to plant broad beans - even if you dont like them, they give lots of food back to the soil over winter. This is a great way to get them going so that kids can learn about roots, seedlings and stems... They might even be more inclined to eat the end result! You just need a jar and some damp kitchen towel

14.01.2022 Here are some super Small World Play ideas... Maybe you can make a theme out of it: play dress ups, read some stories, and draw some pictures..?

12.01.2022 Playgroup Tasmania and local playgroups are working hard to ensure that playgroups continue to be a safe space for families to play. Things might look a bit di...fferent, but playgroup is still a chance for children to play and parents to talk and connect. There are ways that we can all help to make playgroup a safe place. Check out the video below :) See more

11.01.2022 Did you know something as simple as nursery rhymes can have a big impact on childrens language and literacy skills? With all this time at home there are so many opportunities to sing and play with words and rhymes Lots of great ideas in this blog
