24.01.2022 Blues and greys work beautifully together. We love colour matching to perfectly suit the environment around a sail. It is one of our favourite parts of the design process. #peninsulashadesails #colourmatching

24.01.2022 PVC or Shade Cloth? The question on some our customers minds! Image 1 is shade cloth and image 2 is PVC. There is a bit of a difference between PVC and regular shade cloth material, one being the completely waterproof aspect that PVC provides. Where as shade cloth provides a 50 - 60% water proof aspect!... The next difference being the fabrication of PVC sails! We use a welding technique. A very different machine to the large sewing machine we use for shade cloth. There is also a difference in weight for the materials too. There are so many different options and ways to complete a project! We are confident in our ability to be creative when it comes to any project #peninsulashadesails #pvc #shadecloth

22.01.2022 What happened to Summer?! What terrible weather we have had over the past couple of days, between rain, hail, flooding and thunder it seems like the Summer season has gone backwards! We can only hope everyone was safe and unharmed during this time, and that there was no damage to anything for anyone ... Hopefully the rain reached and helped with a bit of relief for the bush fires!! #peninsulashadesails #melbourneweather

10.01.2022 Replacing a Sail? With our dedication to quality fabrication, we fully expect our shade sails to last 13-15 years. Longer the more you look after it, cleaning, maintaining and even storing it over Winter! We can help with all of these things. Unfortunately the time will come when your faithful shade sail will need to be replaced the good news is this is a fantastic opportunity to give your property a face lift with new shade cloth colours being added every few years.... Didnt quite get 10years out of a sail? Unfortunately not all suppliers share our dedication to the art of sail making and may have used a cheaper cloth or cotton thread. We can conduct a full shade sail audit inspecting the post and fittings ensuring they are the appropriate gauge and not damaged in anyway then make you a replacement sail you will see the full value from! We are passionate about quality and doing jobs right the first time here at PSS. #peninsulashadesails #quality See more

08.01.2022 Shade structures for school are essential to providing shade for students, as well as for sitting and waiting areas. We pride ourselves on our ability to work closely with schools, kindergartens and other educational institutions to achieve stunning functional structures for both shade and water protection. Peninsula Shade Sails can help your school apply for the Community Shade Sail grant, which is run by the Victorian Government to provide shade structures in communit...y areas. #peninsulashadesails #schools See more

08.01.2022 There is more to installing a shade sail than you may think! The Process involves 6 steps: 1. Measure and Quote We measure the space and give you a quote.... 2. Quote Approval We wait for you to approve the colour and quote. 3. Fitting and Installation We come out to site to fit and install the steel post/brackets/mounts, whatever the job needs. 4. Measure Sail We then re measure the space to make sure of the measurements. 5. Crafting the Sail We then fabricate the sail in house. 6. Flying and Tensioning Sail We come back out to site and install your sail! So it can take a bit longer than expected! 07.01.2022 What are Fabric Span Shade Structures? These structures can be used to cover just about any area with either a mesh or waterproof canopy. The system uses cast aluminium fittings to support steel tube allowing for a wide variety of configurations.... These can be a great alternative to a shade sail for more coverage, and a more permanent waterproof solution! #peninsulashadesails #fabricspanstructure See more

07.01.2022 Look at this incredible view! Sometimes the best part of making and installing the shade sails ourselves is appreciating all the beautiful places we get to visit, and this one is not a bad view to have whilst working. #peninsulashadesails #beautifulviews

07.01.2022 Mask prototype 1. Testing the potential pivot the sail loft to the production to face masks. Canvas outer, cotton inner, stainless eyelets and shock cord. Few learnings from this prototype larger size with nose wire reinforcement to follow. @ Mornington, Victoria

06.01.2022 Lets talk why shade is so important here in Australia! Australia has the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70! Scary stats. This is a problem at the heart of our company because skin cancer can easily be prevented with quality shade! Our shade cloth is great at reducing ultraviolet (UV) over-exposure. It is at least 90% block out on most materials.... That is why it is more important than ever to consider sun safety when you are not only out but at home as well! #peninsulashadesails #sunsafety See more

05.01.2022 Shade Sails dont just have to be for your deck or pool areas, did you know we quite often install shade sails over carport areas? This can offer you some protection from the sun, but also some protection from the rain and hail in winter too. Although not completely waterproof in this material, it can offer a good amount of protection for your car from the elements!... #peninsulashadesails #carport See more

04.01.2022 UV WARNING!! The best few days UV rating is set to be at 12 and 13 which is extreme! So please take care to be sun safe, remember to slip slip slap seek and slide!!... 04.01.2022 Hip and Ridge Shade Structures - what are they? This is the simplest shade structure design, with four exterior posts that support hip and ridge beams. The length and width of the structure can be varied to suit the site. It is made from the same shade cloth material as our sails but offers more of a structure than sails do! ... Great alternative to a traditional sail! #peninsulashadesails #shadestructures See more

03.01.2022 Appreciation this humpday! What a beautiful and amazing place we live and work in here on the Mornington Peninsula. With scenes like this its hard not to stop and appreciate it. ... #peninsulashadesails #morningtonpeninsula See more

03.01.2022 Want to know how shade sails work? Sails use the hollows (curves) in the edges to set up tension through the sail. The depth of the curve is a percentage of the edge length (the longer the edge the bigger the hollow). ... As the corners of the sail are tensioned, the edge hollows try to straighten, thus pulling the fabric tight! Different shapes require different techniques, but we have gotten pretty good at them over the years #peninsulashadesails #shadesails See more

02.01.2022 One thing many people dont know we do is take your sails down and store them! There are many people who dont need their sails all year round. Holiday houses or over the pool in winter for example. We can not only take them down and fold them up for storage but give them a cleaning as well.... All shade sails cleaned by Peninsula Shade Sails go through an antibacterial treatment to prevent grout from returning, leaving your shade sails clean for longer. This helps to keep your sail protected over Winter and make sure it is in its best shape for Summer time, refreshed and ready to go! . #peninsulashadesails #shadesails See more

02.01.2022 All our sails are designed with the use of CAD (computer aided design) software! Each design is individual, and is first created in 2-D form on-site. Our design team has a thorough understanding of the suns movement and position, especially how it impacts each site differently due to the way the site itself faces!... This helps you picture your sail in the area before it is installed! #peninsulashadesails #design See more

01.01.2022 The bushfires around Australia at the moment are terrifying! #bushfiresaustralia Our heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by the fire and our appreciation to the great fire fighters who are helping to fight them! 01.01.2022 The first week back at school!! It reminds us of all the primary school jobs we have done. It is one of the most rewarding jobs we do!... Many people dont know this, but schools often have to wait for grant money to install shade protection like this for the kids. This job was for a little primary school in Tooradin. We had a large sail to install with the large steel posts through the middle of the playground. Hope everyone is having a great first week back! #peninsulashadesails #schoolsback
