21.01.2022 It is time to look forward to the new season - Penneshaw markets will commence on the first Sunday in October (unless circumstances prohibit). Island residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a day out browsing artisan arts, crafts, plants, souvenirs and regional food specialties. Live music and a great day out - the market is open from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. with after market choices of lazing on the beach, exploring the Kangaroo Island Sculpture Trail or venturing further afield with walking trails along the coast line. Watch this space!

18.01.2022 It was a great day in at Penneshaw Market yesterday. We greatly appreciate the benefits of being able to fall back to Penneshaw Hall in the event of weather conditions being too dangerous or impracticable for outdoors. Although the live music is no longer an option for these occasions, visitors to the market were able to get out of the wet and cold outdoors to browse through Island history and art books, locally produced cards and decorations, crochet beanies (very appropria...te) cottage industry conserves and chutneys, beautifully designed earrings and art, clothing from surf wear to toddler fashion gear, Island craft soaps, candles and teas, handcrafted leather belts, bags and souvenir items and a very sociable welcome from stallholders enjoying the return to markets after nine months of anticipation. The next Penneshaw Market is 1st November See more

13.01.2022 The first market of the season was certainly wet, cold and windy with a welcome retreat to Penneshaw Hall enjoyed by stallholders and visitors. However the forecast for the 1st November market this Sunday is very welcome - 18 degrees and a light breeze. Stallholders are eager to return to Penneshaw Oval to enjoy the fresh air and open space for visitors to browse artisan craft , Island souvenir items and jewellery and cottage craft food products. Live music will entertain visitors and there are two cafes adjacent the Oval for a longer refreshment break - check out Millie Mae's Pantry and Fat Beagle Coffee Shop for the best of Island light meals and snacks.
10.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL STALL HOLDERS Would you like to advertise your business for FREE to the local KI community? We are creating an "Inspire KI" magazine and offerin...g both Kingscote and Penneshaw market stall holders an opportunity to advertise their wares for sale as a way to support you during this time of closure. Some of you may have a large digital presence, but some of you may not, so the aim is to assist in letting our community know who you are, what you do and how to contact you. Many locals wish to support local businesses but struggle to know where to find you so this might help keep it front of mind. The magazine will be letter dropped to all of KI households regularly (I would love it to be monthly but may be bi-monthly or quarterly) and will have some other inspiring content to help uplift, inspire and keep people connected during this time of Covid-19 restrictions. We will also have a facebook group and the magazine will be available digitally so you can also send to friends and family off Island. It will contain digital links directly to your business too. If you would like us to promote your business please email me at [email protected] or feel free to call me on 0417 449 590. I will need: - Your Business name - a brief summary of what you sell - Contact details (including any facebook/website info) - 1 photo to accompany it.
09.01.2022 It was a very enjoyable market returning to Penneshaw Oval after the long recess due to bushfires and Covid19, followed by dismal weather for the October re-opening. Stallholders were happy to greet the crowds of day trip visitors, tourists and locals to browse the quality items produced by Island residents and engaged with the community information stalls of Karta Harvest Exchange and Disability Advocate (with freebie gift bags and pens). The weather was also perfect with a warm day and gentle easterly which encouraged visitors to linger for the entertainment by Jungli Slumber The next market is 6th December when Angus Guild will be the featured performer
05.01.2022 WEATHER ALERT FOR SUNDAY MARKET The forecast for Sunday is now 14 degrees with 90% chance of rain between 10 - 25 ml. Whilst Kangaroo Island appreciates a good drop of water, the market on the Oval is out of the question. Unless the weather forecast is completely wrong, the market will fall back to Penneshaw Hall. Entrance will be through side door on eastern side (beside Oval). Covid19 regulations will apply with visitors asked to maintain social distancing and attendance limited to 50 people at one time. Stallholders will have to evaluate whether they can reasonably take part with space limitations. Further updates as they come to hand.

01.01.2022 Today we had a market for the first time since the middle of March, when the last cruise ship was able to visit before they all stopped coming due to COVID-19. ...We had it in the hall because of rain. I met heaps of people and got lots of cuddles. Particular thanks go to Ailish and Caleb, who spent a lot of time under the table with me giving me bits of carrot and special cuddles . Mum and I are now back home drying out . See more
