07.01.2022 This past week Group A children were treated to a surprise visit from friends who come from a remote community in the APY Lands in the far north-west corner of South Australia. Julieanne is an Anangu woman and a Pitjantjatjara language teacher, so we were lucky to have a mini lesson from her. We have been learning the song heads, shoulders, knees and toes in English, Kaurna language and now Pitjantjatjara. In this photo Julieanne is showing the children where she comes from and which Aboriginal language she speaks (Pitjantjatjara). How lucky were we!! You can find out more information about this special map here: https://reconciliationsa.org.au/map-of-indigenous-australia/

01.01.2022 Dear families, The Premier today announced that schools and preschools will reopen to all students on Monday 23 November. As a result our Children’s Centre will be open and operating as normal for kindergarten and occasional care programs. Playgroups are cancelled for next week. ... We will not be offering an alternative home-based learning program. As the Chief Public Health Officer said in the recent press conference earlier this afternoon, just because the hard lockdown is being lifted does not mean that the risks associated with COVID-19 have passed. As a result we will minimise the number of people coming and going from our site. Wherever possible, we are limiting the adult foot traffic into and out of our centre. Please drop and collect your child at the gate and maintain the appropriate physical distance from other adults. Staff will be waiting at the gate/near the front entry doors to help. More information on excursions, playgroup, end of year events and use of masks will be available soon. I am waiting on advice from the Department for Education about these issues. At this stage, our kindy excursions to Gorge Wildlife Park remain cancelled. However, I will update you all as soon as I hear their recommendations. Thank you very much for your support over the last couple of days. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Please take care of yourselves and we look forward to seeing you all next week. Kind Regards, Jessica Dubois
