25.01.2022 Today is the anniversary of the death of Fr Julian Tenison Woods. Fr Woods was an important person in St Mary MacKillop's life and for our school. Sr. Rita Mal...avisi has put together a special "Macka Moment" for this day (see attachment). Today is also the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. The rosary is a gift of prayer. It is made up of three repeated sets of traditional prayer - Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be. The rosary appeals to many for its calming atmosphere through constant repetition. It can help us to become centered and trust that God will bring us through difficult times to inner peace.

The students had their first Immersion Day last week and were excited about their first Preliminary Assessment Task on the Nature of Religion and Beliefs. By the end of Term 3, the cohort of Year 10 students will emerge as HSC students.

11.01.2022 Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday. Shrove Tuesday is the traditional feast before the start of Lent. The Penola Catholic College community joined together to raise money for Project Compassion through the sale of pancakes. The tradition of making pancakes comes from an old English custom of using all the fattening ingredients in the house in preparation for Lent, these included eggs and milk. ... 11.01.2022 Ash Wednesday is today. To mark the beginning of Lent, on Wednesday 17th February, 43 student leaders travelled to Our Lady of the Way Parish to join Fr Michael Gitau, our College Principal Leader Mrs Cairns, Mr Testa and Miss Mansour for Holy Mass and to receive the ashes on behalf of the college community. Ash Wednesday is an ancient Holy day of prayer and fasting, where Christians commit to 40 days of deep spiritual reflection and penance, observing the practices of praye...r, charity and abstinence. The ashes are prepared by burning palm leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebration. In the afternoon, Deacon George Bryan was welcomed at Penola Catholic College for a solemn liturgy, where ashes were distributed to the rest of the college community, with the words Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel. Liturgies for stages 4, 5 and 6 were led by the class captains. A big thank you to the entire Penola community for their reverence and respect in this opportunity to grow in faith, identity and belonging. 08.01.2022 Our Yr 8 P-TECH class met with critical friends and CEDP partnership Dianne Mills today to partake in a mid-project checkpoint on using a Rube Goldberg Machine. Our critical friends were blown away by our students creativity and problem solving being demonstrated at such an early stage in their projects. In a few weeks time the students will present their final designs to a judging panel.
