25.01.2022 Gelding day FRIDAY!Gelding day FRIDAY!
25.01.2022 So I haven’t had many updates this week. The boys are getting into a routine now and we’ve pretty much just been practicing the skills they’ve learned and both Brego & Bilbo have been learning to pick up their feet. Bravo has been getting plenty of leading practice in as well and is getting better every day. Nothing very exciting this week. But progress is being made.... Here’s a photo of Bilbo being extra cute
24.01.2022 Well the young stallions are now young geldings! Hooray! Huge thanks to Mike & Simone at Oldbury Equine Clinic for such a great job this morning! Bilbo was up and happily munching on his lovely paddock feed pretty quickly and doesn’t look bothered at all. He was even happy to have a pat just now and inspect me for potential treats. Bravo had a bit of extra bleeding which was dealt with so we’re keeping an eye on him for the next 24 hours and the vets will be back out tomorrow... morning to check on him again. Bravo is *not* very pleased with me right now. I’ll have to do some serious sucking up to be friends with him again I think!
23.01.2022 We are heartbroken to announce we lost our big girl Tika very suddenly yesterday. Many of you may have met her when coming here. She was a great guard dog but so gentle and friendly and she just loved her cuddles. We will miss her very much.
21.01.2022 So, I had Mick from Equident here this morning for a couple of routine dentals. Poor Bilbo had stinky breath so I asked Mick to check him out and this is what we found! Baby teeth hadn’t come away, and there was food getting jammed between the baby teeth and adult ones. A minor sedation and Mick got these out without any trouble (they were more than ready to go!) and now Bilbo’s adult teeth can settle into the correct spot and no more trapped feed. ... Bilbo has not had a full dental appointment - he’s not yet handled enough. However it was quick and easy to solve this and Mick had a look and says the rest of his mouth looks good, when his future new home gets his whole mouth seen to it should be fairly routine! Get your babies teeth done folks! Saves so much trouble and expense in the long run
20.01.2022 I’ve been getting a fair bit of interest in these boys and a few enquires which is GREAT! Finding them loving new homes is the ultimate goal so I can bring in the next three and get them gelded and homes too If you’re particularly interested in either Bilbo or Brego, please contact me to organise to meet them. I will not consider them sold (and they’ll still be available) until a deposit has been made on them. So if you’d like to secure one of these gorgeous boys let me know!
18.01.2022 Guess who’s (finally!) losing his manhood today!
13.01.2022 Bravo’s turn!
11.01.2022 As everyone who knows her knows, Tika is a walking garbage guts. She has a huge appetite and will eat pretty much ANYTHING. She even used to steal apples from the orchard and lettuce from the chook scraps. Today Tika had the BEST. DAY. EVER. She had breakfast, managed to steal an egg out of the chook oen for morning tea. Then she got *4* horse testicles all to herself because Hero was too busy playing to come and have his share. Then she got CHICKEN for dinner to top it off! Talk about doggie heaven.
05.01.2022 So Bravo doesn’t worry very much about ‘stuff’. People are still a concern, but general ‘scary stuff’ not so much. (Especially when there’s food!)
03.01.2022 No photos today - just didn’t have time! Bravo is accepting the halter quite easily now, though I am finding that for the moment I need to start the whole process Louise did Monday from the beginning each time. But it’s taking even less and less time each go! Bilbo is learning to accept a number of weird and wonderful things as we go for walkies about the property, being rubbed or groomed all over and I’m starting to teach him to lift his hooves.... Brego is coming along great guns and is also learning to lift his feet when requested and also to allow me to hold them up for brief periods.
02.01.2022 So question for those interested in Andalusian x FILLIES/young mares coming through later on after the colts are all rehomed.... Due to the nature of the stud’s situation; every filly has potentially been in with a colt/multiple colts at some stage. If buying a filly via me from this stud, would you personally prefer to pay a little more and know for sure whether or not the filly is in foal before you commit to purchase?... Or would you rather a cheaper price and have her preg tested yourself but have to purchase her first without knowing for sure either way?
01.01.2022 Poor Bravo had to be sedated again today to check and flush out his castration wound. Mike & Warwick from Oldbury Equine Clinic are very happy with him! Barring any unforeseen issues he should now recover quickly and be right as rain in no time! Here he is awake enough to feel peckish Now he and Bilbo are enjoying time in the big green paddock for a few weeks so they keep moving and draining their castrations sites well.
