12.01.2022 I’m very privileged to be welcomed into the Peregian Springs State School community as the new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer. My family background is Gamilario from northern NSW. Our family totem being the Emu or dhinawan in my traditional language. Here at Peregian Springs State School I look forward to my primary role which is working closely with the staff to offer cultural awareness and Indigenous perspectives in class. My other goals are to en...sure the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students of Peregian feel connected to their heritage and offer support to them in their learning and well-being. I’ll also be bringing awareness of local traditional culture to the non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, I will be delivering some exciting cultural programs such as Indigenous games and deliver new programs which will touch on our history and culture. I look forward to getting to know everyone including the parents of our Jarjums, so please if you want to reach out to me, I’d be more than happy to have a yarn! Thank you to everyone at Peregian Springs State School for making me feel so welcome, I hope to get to know you all over the coming months and building lifelong relationships. Ashleigh Knox See more

04.01.2022 A huge big congratulations to our eight Tournament of Minds teams who yesterday submitted their video solutions. Tournament of Minds is a creative problem solving competition in which students present their solution dramatically. Teams have six weeks to solve the problem and need to complete the work independently. Our teams have been using much of their break times over the past six weeks to do this. This also means the teachers facilitating have given up their break times also - what a massive effort by everyone! We are so proud of what they have been able to achieve! Wishing everyone the best of luck with judging!
