23.01.2022 Qualify for a real World Championships via virtual racing? Thoughts? Is this racing? Legal? If Zwift has taught us anything, its that most racing is hilariously irrelevant in the greater scheme of real cycling. It is a training tool, an excellent one, but no more. A cynic would suggest that IRONMAN are doing anything possible (pun intended) to keep the dream alive! Or maybe this is a hugely positive step in providing a racing outlet for a demanding market, that are hungry for... competition, a goal, anything! They have certainly filled a void. In any case, the real racing is coming. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

18.01.2022 If you read nothing else over this month, read these great thoughts by Tim Reed. Some excellent ideas for all levels of athlete around keeping purpose and where to place your focus, particularly mentally.

18.01.2022 If you have a spare 90 minutes, this is one of the best discussions around the extensive research done on the best way to develop your endurance capacity to race and train successfully for multiple seasons. An excellent lecture given by Stephen Seiler PhD covering his vast work done on researching optimal doses of intensity and volume for endurance athletes. https://lecturecapture.brookes.ac.uk//8c0f98ec83c44ec6aa98

15.01.2022 ALL SYDNEY SQUAD TRAINING CANCELLED We are going ONLINE with a DAILY Zwift session at 6:30am - 7:30am open to anyone! I would encourage each and everyone of you to do what you can to remain fit and healthy. Whilst we can still ride and run outside (and if you feel it socially appropriate), then go for it by yourself. It is CRUCIAL that whilst maintaining your own fitness that you act with respect and consideration for the broader community as a whole. ... For those on programs, I will be working closely with you to help maintain a healthy physical and mental outlook during this unprecedented time. I will be providing detailed programming around strength and mobility that can be done in your lounge room with zero equipment, plus other dry land options for those with no access to pools. Be positive, be healthy, be tolerant, be kind.

09.01.2022 The best just keeps getting better!

07.01.2022 Our fearless leader, Club President Mark Preston getting some love this week. Still to this day riding times on a TT bike that would make most 30 year old's have a good look in the mirror

06.01.2022 *IRONMAN Oceania 2020 Season Update* Yesterday we confirmed that IRONMAN Australia and IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie, unfortunately, will not be taking place as p...lanned this September due to reasons relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Not being able to hold a big, iconic IRONMAN event is hugely disappointing for everyone involved. However, we are determined to come back to Port Macquarie even stronger in 2021. We understand many of you are wondering what this means for the rest of our IRONMAN events scheduled to take place in Oceania in 2020. With Government restrictions easing in some states we remain very positive about the road ahead. Our team, with the support of our stakeholders, are fully focused on delivering amazing and safe events in the second half of 2020. Every event is being assessed on a case-by-case basis. We consider local regulatory and health restrictions, domestic and international border controls, event design and community resources specific to every event. One thing for certain is that change is constant, but we work with the information that we have at hand at the time. As at today (8th July), our team is full steam ahead with the planning and delivery of these events: IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast (13 September) in Queensland. IRONMAN 70.3 Western Sydney (27 September) in New South Wales IRONMAN 70.3 Melbourne (15 November) in Victoria IRONMAN Western Australia and IRONMAN 70.3 Western Australia (6 December) in Western Australia We are also working very closely with local stakeholders to finalise our plans for IRONMAN Cairns and hope to have an update regarding this event in the next couple of days. For our New Zealand athletes, we would also like to confirm that IRONMAN 70.3 Taup will not be taking place in November/December this year. We understand it can be difficult to stay motivated when the goalposts keep shifting but to anyone entered in an event later this year, we encourage you to stay positive and keep your training up. On behalf of the entire IRONMAN Oceania Group, we thank you again for your ongoing patience and support. Kia Kaha (Stay Strong).

04.01.2022 COVID 19 - Some training thoughts Depending on where you are in the World right now, you are in varying degrees of forced isolation, your goal races have been cancelled, your local pool may be closed, and for even a couple of you, you are part way through your self isolation. It's unprecedented, but crucial to keep a broader perspective then the narrow view of an endurance athlete that wants to race. Having said that and accepting current global limitations, I have been asked...Continue reading

03.01.2022 **IRONMAN Australia and IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie Event Update** When we postponed IRONMAN Australia and 70.3 Port Macquarie from the original date of 3 May... to 13 September 2020, we felt very confident we would still be able to deliver an exceptional event as planned. Unfortunately, due to reasons related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic including the uncertainty over the duration and extent of international and domestic border restrictions and the potential impact on local community resources, we regret to advise that IRONMAN Australia cannot take place as planned on 13 September 2020. We share in the disappointment of this news as we love producing IRONMAN Australia as much as you love racing in it. All currently registered athletes have been sent an email from us today, and will receive a second email with more details on their options later this week. While we are prevented from holding the event in 2020, we are already looking forward to coming back stronger in 2021. The IRONMAN Australia team would like to thank you for your patience and support of the event in this challenging time.

02.01.2022 IRONMAN 's proposal to get us back racing, including racing self sufficiently. Considering that U.S races are likely to go ahead soon as various states reopen, what are your thoughts? Would you race self sufficiently? No aid stations? Minimal spectators?
