13.01.2022 3 Things I wish local footballers understood about performance better: 1. Doing your Sunday recovery down at the beach in the water doesn’t combat the 10 beers you had last night... We love our old school traditions as Australians don’t we? Few beers after the game, no shorts in the shower and down to the beach Sunday for recovery? ... Sure, as a local footballer it may be an exit from reality, a hobby or just somewhere to hang out with your mates while staying active. But, consuming 5+ alcoholic drinks in one night can affect your cognitive function and physical activity for up to 3 days. From a physiological point of you, alcohol affects in a few ways. It impairs muscle growth, dehydrates your body, PREVENTS MUSCLE RECOVERY, slows your reaction time and impairs the function of the hippocampus (vital part of the brain to form memories) amongst a few more things. As an athlete, these all effect your ability to perform. The best characteristic of an athlete is availability. If you don’t recover, there is a reduced ability to string back to back sessions/weeks of training & games and can impact the quality of work being done during those sessions. Therefore, effecting your ability to be available for selection every week. So, my question, what is the point of going down to the beach at 10am on Sunday in more than frosty conditions if you’re having 10 beers Saturday night? If you’re so concerned with your recovery and want to back up week to week I don’t think that is the most effective solution. Solution - Have a choccy milk post-game and get your sleep in. The mix of carbohydrates and protein can speed up the recovery process and it tastes fantastic.

05.01.2022 Herrrrreeee. We. Go! The Virtus Performance Mentorship Bridging the gap between University and the industry. A 16-week experience of personal and professional growth ... Our intention was to ‘create something special’ at the very beginning of the COVID lockdown and that something special is starting to take shape Countless hours of research, a laptop full of word docs, PDFs & presentations, years of content accumulation & learning - All summarised into one place. Our next intake is fast approaching - If you want to be involved or want further information about the program, shoot me a message or email me at [email protected]!

04.01.2022 Sometimes we move so fast that we forget to sit back and reflect on what we have achieved! - Progress is progress and progress beats perfection every day of the week! - Soooooo, I thought i’d take some time and reflect on all the legends that have finished off running programs, started new ones, knocked over PBs and have run further than they thought they ever would in the last 2 months! - ... Swipe across to see everyone’s results and I wish I could post photos and comments of everyone’s results but there is too many to get to! - We summarise and reflect on these weekly, but it’s the commitment and summation of daily and weekly boxes ticked that allows this all to happen! I get SO hyped seeing the comments, posts, stories and daily conversations from everyone doing things they didn’t think possible. - Over 330 people have been through 1 of the 4 running programs at some stage or another which has been super cool and something I didn’t think would happen! - Sooooo, shoutout to anyone and everyone who has been through or is currently doing a program! I couldn’t do what I do without everyone tipping in and trusting the process and I’m vvvv happy to re-pay that favour in result-driven performance gains! Which we love! See more

19.12.2021 Fuck Motivation. - Motivation is a fickle, fleeting emotion that is easy to rely on because it doesn’t require effort. Finding the ‘motivation’ to do something is a myth. Motivation is something you don’t chase; it comes to you. You’ve either got it or you don’t. - Let’s talk discipline - that’s something we can manifest and cultivate. ... - Sometimes shit is going to be hard, sometimes you’re not going to want to do it but if you reaaaallly want something you’ve got to force yourself to do hard things. You either want it or you don’t. If you find yourself not reaaaaallly wanting it, that is completely fine as well but your actions need to back up your words. - For me, it always comes back to why are you doing what you’re doing? - Discipline is reliable, motivation is momentary. ‘I’m not motivated’ isn’t going to cut it in the long run.
