16.01.2022 LATEST UPDATE ON COVID-19 From Monday 23rd March at midday, Below Parallel Barbell Club (where our clinic is located) will close for open gym sessions. As an Allied Health practitioner, we are currently seeking further clarification from the government and our governing body ESSA around how Allied Health practices like our own can continue to operate. At this stage, we will be continuing one-on-one, face-to-face sessions at Below Parallel. No group sessions will be running, a...nd the gym will not be open to anyone except clients who are having a one-on-one session with one of our practitioners. Our practitioners continue to follow the strict protocols around hygiene and cleaning between clients, as well as maintaining social distancing rules. We will also continue to offer virtual sessions for our clients who are not able to see us in person. The team at Performotion has successfully trialed virtual sessions this week and found it to be a great option for those that are unable to travel to see us. Exercise is incredibly important for maintaining physical and mental health, and we are fortunate to be in a position where we can still provide assistance to our clients to help them keep up their health and fitness goals. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our clients for their continued support during this unprecedented and difficult time. We will keep you updated on any further developments as they arise.

05.01.2022 WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS! Our primary focus during these unprecedented times is the health and safety of our co-workers and clients. As we continue to monitor the situation closely, we are taking actions and precautions throughout our business. These are based on recommendations from the Australian government and the World Health Organisation. ... Our gym family at Below Parallel is a small, community-minded one, which means we are able to keep our numbers below 100 at all times. Very rarely do we exceed 20-30 people at the gym at any one time. We will continue to operate throughout this time, and will be responsive to any changes in recommendations from the Health department. Actions that have been implemented throughout the business to date include: Increased focus on personal hygiene for all of our team members with hand washing & sanitising between clients. Increased focus on cleaning and sanitising procedures, including professional commercial cleaning each week, and equipment cleaning processes using disinfectant sprays between each client. Our team are regularly provided with the most up to date information from health authorities on how to monitor for signs of the illness and are asked to refrain from coming into work if they exhibit symptoms or are at risk. VIRTUAL SESSIONS AVAILABLE We are also offering virtual sessions for clients where appropriate - please talk to your practitioner about arranging a virtual session. Stay healthy, keep exercising and support small business! See more

01.01.2022 Working through neck pain: Outside the gym Alongside training, there are a lot of things you can do to help minimise and work through neck pain! The first thing that can help is understanding pain. A pain signal, even the intense ones, can occur when there are no serious physical or mechanical causes. It can occur instead as a sort of ‘warning system’, where your body is concerned about an area and wants to bring attention to an area to help protect it.... Stress levels can really impact this. Things like a lack of sleep or excessive work, or family issues/work problems can very easily drive up the body’s usual pain response into a much more intense experience. Especially when it’s severe, It’s very normal to feel like you should keep your neck and head still (as your body is telling you this with pain signals!), but one of the bests things you can do is start to increase tolerable, gradual movements in everyday life. This style of movement is what an exercise routine will build off of to rid your neck pain! Stay tuned for more of our series on neck pain! See more
