24.01.2022 This week at Periwinkles, the Toddler and Kindy children learnt all about Space and completed some beautiful craft activities related to the sun, moon and planet earth.

23.01.2022 The babies play area had a serious facelift today. The no long soft rubber surface was pulled up to make way for some major improvements and new landscaping. It was a group effort today with help from a team of family members. There is still so much more work to do next weekend but we are proud of the changes so far. 22.01.2022 Its official on the 1st of December Periwinkles will have a new name! Learn Play Grow, Early Education and Care will continue to offer the same high-quality early learning and care services from our dedicated staff for children 3 months to 5 years of age, Monday to Friday from 7am - 6pm. We cant wait for the signs to go up!!

19.01.2022 One happy shop keeper selling produce at our Fresh food market in the Toddler room. The room is almost unrecognisable when compared to its original condition. The recent addition of a Fresh Food Market has been well received by all age groups. Dramatic play and role play are vitally important for children. They promote development of; - social skills - oral language - turn taking - imaginative play and... -problem solving just to name a few!! See more

19.01.2022 On Friday we had Esther from the City of Melville visit our centre to talk to the Kindy children about the new FOGO (Food organics Garden organics) recycling bin that will soon arrive at the centre. Esther is the cities waste education officer and is passionate about reducing landfill. She taught us that if it grows, it goes in the lime green FOGO bin. We are so excited that waste from the centre (include paper hand towels!) will be recycled in Kwinana into nutrient rich compost and used on WA farms and vineyards!!! #cityofmelville #waronwaste

18.01.2022 Garden Reveal Stage one of the Kindy outdoor play space is now complete! The brick paving, rubber soft fall and dated play equipment were removed and replaced with; beautiful limestone bike track timber swing set... mulberry tree, lots of plants and large area of soft blade buffalo grass. Stage two commences next week, luckily the children can play in the sand pit and completed area whilst the work takes place. Well done to Tristan Crane and Owen Trott for their absolute mammoth effort to get the project completed on time!

15.01.2022 Today the children at Periwinkles enjoyed their first music and movement session with Charmaine. The favourite hits of the morning were Ba ba black sheep, Wheels on the bus and Ring a ring a rosie. Charmaine will be at the centre every Wednesday for our weekly music sessions. 15.01.2022 What a beautiful day to start using our new easel!!

15.01.2022 On Friday our Early Childhood Teacher set up a letter writing station for the kindy room children to write letters to Santa. The response from the children was fantastic! Writing to Santa is such a motivating reason for children to practice their pre-writing and emerging writing skills. Pretend writing should be encouraged and accepted by teachers and caregivers and not dismissed as scribble. It is an important step for children as they develop towards becoming confident writers with a love of writing.

15.01.2022 We are just loving the new flooring installed over the weekend at the centre! Check out the mural unveiled in the kindy playroom when we removed the huge bed storage device.

11.01.2022 Today, Educators Maslin and Anita took the Kindergarten children over to Kardinya Park shopping centre to meet some special creatures that were at the shops as part of their free school holiday events. The childrens favourite animals included the Dingo, Bob tail goanna and snake!!

08.01.2022 This is a standard lunch for the children and educators, its made completely from scratch by our wonderful cook Jenny. Today we ate meat loaf, mash potato and roast vegetables with salad. Jenny has worked for the centre for an amazing 23 years!! Im pretty sure that warrants a local park named after you?? #professionalvegesmuggler

07.01.2022 ROOM REVEAL It was a busy weekend at the centre painting the toddlers room. White tones and natural timber elements are so calming for both the children and educators alike. ... Our educators used the bunch of spring blooms as inspiration for children in the nursery room to create some beautiful art. Now we just have to find a place to hang their paintings on the walls. #springflowers #processart #everychildsanartist
