19.01.2022 We have been receiving a lot of enquiries about the new requirements for swimming pools. 5 key points to address 1. You have until November to register your pool with council. You need to do this first, you will receive a letter with the date the pool was installed, the applicable standard it needs to be inspected against and when your first certificate of compliance is required to be lodged.... 2. You then can choose to use council or a registered building inspector to certify your barrier. 3. If you choose to engage us, we can answer any questions you may have over the phone prior to us coming onsite. If the pool doesn’t comply we complete a non compliance form 24. You will have 60 days to fix up any items on the non compliance form. Once you have rectified any issues we will re inspect and provide a certificate of compliance for you to lodge with council. We recommend visiting the @victorianbuildingauthority website for self assessment tool. Please note that if we issue a non-compliance form and at the end of the 60 days you haven’t fixed up the items, we will lodge your noncompliance form to council and they will send out the $1100 fine. 4. To summarise the intent of the latest 2012 standard, which we will all have to comply with at some point, it is to make the swimming area as small as possible, have no where that kids can hide, the whole area concreted to maintain clearances under the fence, ideally no boundary barriers and nothing for kids to climb on. At the moment you are only required to comply with the standard that the pool was installed to so check the letter from council for your applicable requirements. 5. We service the Shepparton, Moira, Mansfield, Strathbogie, Campaspe and Ganawarra Regions. Our aim is to work with you to issue a form 23 certificate of compliance.

18.01.2022 Back in the big smoke yesterday on contract for McKenzie Group Consulting, we undertook 3 mandatory stage inspections Photo 1 - in situ walls for the start of 2 lift shafts in Richmond Photo 2 L13 post tensioned slab in south Melbourne and Photo 3 Level 5 Post tensioned slab in Queen st Melbourne. Great to get back into looking at the big jobs but happier to be home. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

05.01.2022 Another day another pool There are 3 mandatory stage inspections as part of a pool permit. 1 Excavation to inspect the rock base prior to dropping in the pool shown here 2. Reinforcement prior to pouring the concrete bond beam that goes around the top edge of the pool shell and most importantly 3 To inspect the child safety barrier when that has been installed. If you have any questions about your pool or child safety barrier please email [email protected]

03.01.2022 It’s a question we get asked a lot now, why are frames suddenly red? The red timber used in some timber frames now is a termite treated laminated timber that is very strong vertically and super straight. It saves time for tradesman in straightening walls which can result in a better finish for surface linings such as plastering or external cladding.
