24.01.2022 I've been working on a class about assertiveness because I have found that this is something that many of us struggle with. We think that if we say "No" then we are not going to be liked. I also found that many of us have never been taught to be assertive and this is not a skill that comes naturally to us. We are born with this innate desire to be loved or liked by the people in our lives. It started with our parents and then our teachers, peers bosses and so on. You know wh...at I am talking about. That constant need for validation and acceptance. The need to be liked. Unfortunately this constant need for validation comes with a price. Our self esteem and self worth plummets to an all time low, especially when that approval is unattainable. As we all know no matter what we do there are always going to be people in our lives who are not going to like us. Don't you think it's time to create some healthy boundaries? If you do, you may be interested in taking this class. There are many benifits in cultivating an attitude of assertiveness. Communicating your needs and wishes with respect and confidence is a huge part of not only increasing your self worth but it ensures that you represent yourself adequately. 18.01.2022 Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is going to be offered at the practice commencing on 22 July 2019. It is a psychotherapy treatment that enables people to heal from the symptoms of emotional distress as a result of disturbing life experiences. This treatment modality will be employed to treat individuals who are suffering from symptoms associated with unexplained chronic pain, PTSD or Complex Trauma. As with any treatment, a thorough assessment will be carried out, as this treatment may not be suitable for everyone. We are certainly looking forward to offering it as one of our services.
