25.01.2022 Are you a mentor? The best thing i did this year was be grateful to my mentors. Too often it is easy to point out all the problems and things that went wrong. It is easy to fall into a victim mentality when things don’t go our way. When i realized I wasn’t were i wanted to be in life, i looked everywhere but within myself. It was when i started learning to take responsibility for my actions and thoughts that i was able to start to move forward again. ... I want to thank my parents for everything they have done for me. I could go on on how they divorced when i was 5, argued and made me feel unloved and grow up fast... but that is not true. That was what I believed back then, what was back then is not now. They were my mentors, they taught how to be ambitious and strong in the toughest of life storms. And for that and many other things i have learnt i am grateful. 24.01.2022 Hair not done... got 5 min to myself... the joys of being a mum to a new born... so how do i keep my energy up when there are sleepless nights...??? Well 1... my partner gives me time off... to sleep and rejuvenate... even just a few hours a day... to heal my aches and pains... to find a still mind... and 2... Nutrition!!! My priority is a smoothie or salad with my meals to ensure me, my partner and my baby get nourished every day. We just make it happen!... 08.01.2022 The only way to lose weight is not to control your eating habits but to understand them! The first step to overcoming overeating and become an unemotional eater, is to acknowledge the behavior that is not serving you or your body. The way to discover this is to ask yourself:... Do you feel like you need that pick me up chocolate in the afternoon or still don’t feel satisfied after a hearty meal at night? If you are physically not hungry for treat food but rather feel a need towards food or drink, then it is your brain telling you what it already knows for many years... it is saying I use food for pleasure/for distraction/to fill inner voids or feelings of overwhelm or anxiety. 07.01.2022 Feeling disappointed in the whole Covid Iso situation is totally normal and it is can be an uncomfortable feeling. I know, i am pregnant with my first child and feeling the blow. Not being able to see relatives and go shopping to my favorite stores for baby stuff without feeling i am doing something illegal or that i could get sick. But instead of trying to fix our worries, we can breathe and learn from them. Thats the beauty of learning, it helps us grow and do and be more ...of what we love. I learnt that instead of wishing shops were open I learnt to shop online. Not the same experience but does the job right? Instead of getting angry that I cannot see my family and have them visit me when our baby is born, i decided to organize a Zoom call so everyone felt like they wouldn’t miss out... 03.01.2022 Balance is key to weight loss, as we allow the body to choose it’s needs from vitamins and minerals. When we don’t balance our meals and cut out say carbs, for no reason other than to lose weight, we deprive our bodies of key nutrients causing our bodies to search for these foods in more quantities and calorie intake later. The sheer act of deprivation is disaster for ones body as it sets the dieter up for failure and eventual weight gain. Deprivation is one key aspect to di...eting and 98% of the time, diets don’t work, so why would we keep depriving ourselves if we know diets don’t work? Because we are stuck yo yo dieting. When we deprive ourselves of nutritious food- wholesome carbs, healthy fats, we deprive ourselves of essential nutrients. Vitamins bs are in wholesome carbs such as brown rice. Omega 3s in fatty fish. When we deprive ourselves of processed foods our bodies think it is punishment and automatically seeks reward soon after. That is why it is important to understand balance. Balance of eating nutritious food and allowing for some treat food in your day. This does not mean saying I can’t have food that I love, it means saying I choose to love healthy food and I only need a little of the treat food. Here is a good example of a balanced meal...
